First of all I would like to welcome all the readers to my blog. Today I am sharing short but useful information about the agricultural word of the week, Pathology. Agriculture is a broad field that uses many important terms. The pathology is one of the most important fields. It helps us to understand plant diseases and how to prevent them.

What is pathology?

Agricultural pathology is the study of plant diseases and their causes. This field looks at how different organisms like fungi, bacteria, viruses and nematodes affect plants. When plants are affected by the disease. Their growth is affected. The crop production can also decrease significantly.

Symptoms Of Plant Diseases

Plants may exhibit several disease symptoms. For example, leaf spots, yellowing of leaves, plant wilting or stunted growth. If farmers recognize these symptoms in time. The spread of the disease can be prevented. The major crop losses can be avoided.

Ways To Prevent Diseases:

Pathology not only tells us the causes of diseases but also teaches us how to prevent them. For example the use of healthy seeds, crop rotation, land cleaning and selection of disease resistant varieties are very effective. Likewise proper fertilization and irrigation also make plants stronger. Also reduce the risk of diseases.

Finally it would be appropriate to say that pathology is a very important field of agriculture. It plays an important role in maintaining the health of plants and achieving better production. If farmers understand and apply this knowledge. They can protect their crops from diseases and get better yields. Therefore agricultural pathology is of great importance not only for farmers but also for global food security.
