First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the organizers of this beautiful competition. Those who love agricultural life and organize such beautiful events actually brighten the lives of rural people like us. The story I am telling you today is a small but memorable moment in our daily lives. Yesterday afternoon was strangely calm, there were no clouds in the sky, but the wind was a sign of the arrival of winter. At our house, rice work and preparations for planting potatoes were going on. It was as if everyone was not even getting time to catch their breath.

The yard was full of people walking since morning. Sweeping and sorting the grain, after bringing it home, it was just work and work. So in the morning, rice work was going on in our yard. In the afternoon, the sun gradually softened and hit the leaves of the garden. After the hectic day, this afternoon was like a time to breathe a little. Rice work is going on at home, and preparations for planting potatoes are going on in the yard.

All in all, no one could touch the garden since morning. So I had to go pick spinach in the afternoon with my father-in-law and my little girl. As soon as I reached the garden, I saw a green sheet of spinach leaves, which looked wet even though there was no dew, as if they were trying to provide shelter from the scorching sun all day. My father-in-law smiled lightly, the satisfaction of the farmer in his eyes. He said, "Look, Grandma, the spinach is very good. If you pick it up properly this time, you can plant it again next week."

As soon as I bent down and picked the first plant, the girl ran over and tried to touch the leaves with her little hands. I smiled, children blend in with nature so easily. My father-in-law slowly started picking the spinach in rows. His handiwork was perfect, he carefully pulled it up by the roots without damaging a single plant, without digging the soil. I stopped occasionally to see how beautifully he worked. The agricultural labor of a lifetime seemed to be evident in every one of his works.

I also started picking vegetables. At one point, my father-in-law said, "Grandma, you pick the vegetables, I'll make a handful of them." The smell of vegetables made the afternoon seem more magical. The smell of rice in the distance, the potato soil in the yard, and the pure greenery around us all spread a kind of peaceful feeling. Looking at my father-in-law, I felt that the agricultural work at home is done with such care every day, and the relationship with nature is always like magic. He sometimes used to say that the soil never goes empty, it will give back more than it gives. I really remembered his words when picking spinach.

At one point, the basket was full. My father-in-law said, "Come on, this is enough for tonight's cooking, and leave some to dry." I nodded with a smile. The girl said proudly, "I'm picking vegetables too." The three of us laughed at her happiness. On the way back, the sun had set lower. As we left the garden, I felt a kind of calm and lively smell in the air. The fatigue of the whole day seemed to have disappeared as I walked with the basket in my hand. It seemed that farming is not just labor, it is a kind of relationship. These moments of the afternoon with nature, family, and inner peace deepen that relationship.

Returning home, I saw that the rice was still being harvested in the yard. Everyone was busy, we washed the spinach and kept it aside. My father-in-law said with a smile, "I agree that such moments of satisfaction and joy in a farmer's house are true wealth." In the evening, the smell of frying spinach rises from the kitchen. The moon has risen outside and I think that this short afternoon today is like a story about a family of agricultural labor and living on the strength of the soil.
