Arable Land around the World
Many people do not understand how little land is suitable for agriculture. All land is not arable. That's an agricultural term for a suitable land for farming.
Land needs to be fertile and rich in nutrients to cultivate. Too rocky, steep, or too dry land cannot sustain life and is considered unusable for farming. Most tend to overlook this detail when discussing the possibility of feeding the entire world. I really want world hunger to stop but there's a real cost to that solution.
And arable land does not exist forever. It can be wiped out easily. Overusing and not replenishing the land is something that'll make it become infertile and unusable for cultivation. Without proper rotations, fertilization and resting periods, agricultural land eventually becomes unsuitable for any crops at all.
Water is the second most important thing needed for growing crops. Having regular moisture from the rains or irrigation systems is necessary for crop production. Many areas around the world lack this requirement. Climate, soil condition and location make some regions unable to provide food. The map determines the ability to produce goods, not work ethic. They can be hard laborers but if the land won't bring out the results of their labor, what's the point.
Our behavior and practices on currently usable land should be changed for the better. The farmer has to prioritize proper crop rotations. They also need to learn how to manage the resource needed, like the water I just talked about. It is necessary to restore the lost elements.
The concepts involved are simple but has been overlooked since meeting demands today has become a goal which has overshadowed our survival tomorrow.
The land used by people to grow their food is limited and they should be conscious of it. They know it but are not conscious. The number of arable spaces just keeps on shrinking. Weather changes and soil quality issues continue to worsen and I know by now you've felt the difference.
The thing I fear most is knowing that the opportunity to change human behavior and attitude towards nature will not always be available.
It's an issue of physics and biology rather than political matters. So we allowing governments to make moves that goes against agriculture of tomorrow is not a good thing.
It's two way, the soil either possesses the required nutrients or it lacks them and people either care for the Earth or exploits its benefits until there are none left, right now, the majority of people exploit their resources. There is a price to pay for this decision. It does not appear on an accountant's balance sheet so you won't see now. It happens years down the road when the ground becomes barren and unfruitful. At this point, humanity is left with no resources to preserve and also no alternatives to implement. Let's be wiser with our soil.

🎉 Congratulations!
