For the new farmers
The new inexperienced farmers often receive the wrong information about how to care for their property. The first thing you should do is get your soil tested prior to spending any money on fertilizers so that you do not waste money trying to repair the wrong thing.
One farmer friend of mine likes to do this, he keeps a basic notebook to record what crops he planted and how well they did so that this information is more useful in determining what he should plant than listening to someone else's opinion.
You can also talk with local farmers that have been farming in your area for years since they are familiar with the local weather conditions and can give you better advice than an online video consultation will. To be fair, it's not that the videos online aren't good, but lived in experience of people in your own region or area is more valuable. You can learn from the online people but you might experience something different of region conditions are different.
Never plant just one type of crop because if that crop dies, you will lose all your income. Isn't it common sense? But a new inexperienced farmer would most likely say let me start with tomatoes first and that's it, he's made the mistake right?
Always keep careful track of your cash flow to make sure that you have cash available through the time your crops are sold. You should never spray any chemicals immediately after finding any kind of pests or disease. The thing to do instead is to identify the source of those pests or diseases before using money on a quick fix solution to the problem created by pests or disease in your crops.
You can find local resources like some agricultural colleges and experienced neighbors that can help you with any questions you may have related to farming. The farmers who are able to continue farming are not those who have the best equipment but those with the greatest attention to the land they farm.
