There was a small village near our area where many people kept animals in their homes. One old man also lived there. His name was Baba Kareem. He was very kind and simple person. He had no big house and no lot of money but he had one goat. That was very special for him. That goat was white in colour and very beautiful. Baba Kareem called her ***Chandni***.

Chandni was not only an animal for him. She was like family. Every morning Baba Kareem gave her food with his own hands. He talk to her like true friend. When he felt sad he sat near her and shared his feelings. It may sound strange but the goat listened quietly like she understood every word.
One day heavy rain started in village. Weather became very dangerous. Strong wind was blowing everywhere. People quickly went inside their homes. Baba Kareem also tied Chandni near tree and went inside. But after some time rope became loose because of rain water.
At night Baba Kareem was sleeping when suddenly he heard loud sounds outside. He ignored it first but again he heard something. It was Chandni. She was making noise again and again. Baba Kareem came outside with difficulty. Rain was very strong.

Then he saw that water from nearby canal was entering in village very fast. Water was coming towards his small house. If Chandni had not made noise Baba Kareem would never know about this danger. Quickly he woke his neighbors and everyone moved to safe place. People were shocked. They all thanked Baba Kareem’s goat because she saved many lives that night. Baba Kareem hug Chandni with tears in his eyes. He said, Today you are not just my goat you are my hero.

After that day everyone in village started loving Chandni. Children came daily to play with her. Some people brought food for her. Baba Kareem felt proud and happy. Few months later Chandni became sick. Baba Kareem tried everything to save her. He called doctor and gave medicine. But sadly her health became weaker day by day. One morning Chandni closed her eyes forever.

That day Baba Kareem cried a lot. The whole village felt sad because everyone loved that goat. Baba Kareem buried her near same tree where she used to sit daily. For many days he quietly sat there and remembered her. People usually think animals are only animals but this is not true. They also have feelings, loyalty and love. Sometimes animals understand better than humans.
Chandni was only goat but her heart was full of loyalty and care. She taught everyone in village that love and kindness are not only found in humans. A simple animal can become part of our hearts forever.
