Animal Activities #50: Young seagulls

Do you love animals? I think there are not many people who do not love animals, of course there are some animals who we love and others who we do not like very much or even we may be scared of them. We usually see the animals who usually feel as at home in area where we live.
For us living in UK, we are surrounded by water from all the sides and in spring this is time when we have very loud time, there are many seagulls who start to create their nests and to get little chicks.
The seagulls here are big in sizes and when their chicks are born they grow relatively quickly. Many of them despite of reaching the size of adult seagull but only the difference is that adult seagulls are white and have yellow beaks, but the young chicks are grey in colour and their voices have high pitches. Maybe because of that the parents still look after their chicks even if they can fly and find their food.
Young seagulls once they can fly they spend time on beach and be taught how to find food, usually it is little worms, shells with little snails or crabs. That is food that has proteins and healthy for the birds. We often see that people feed them with bread and fish and chips. Of course, the birds will eat them because it is easy to find but not good for birds.
We have here Veterinary clinics who look after injured wild birds and also they provide help for them for free. There are many people who collect money for while life that is including birds, animals and fishes. Every year I hope that there will be less injured young birds and but unfortunately there is no guarantee that they are safe on streets, only in a small areas without much traffic is the best place for such birds.
