Animal Activities #61: Crow and a nut

On the way to study early morning I enjoyed morning walk because it is time to have some fresh air after the night and often if it is fresh that usually wakes me up and I arrive fit and in a good mood to my Uni.
It was not long walk but I always needed to cross the street and it was a traffic light there. Very recently I noticed at the traffic light funny cracking sound and was not really able to understand what sound it is. I looked around and saw a crow that was sitting on the traffic light and was looking down on passing cars.
Once the traffic light switched to red cars stopped and the crow flew down to ground and collected the inner part of cracked nut. The crow was clever it was just less a minute on ground and then flew back on the traffic light, despite of some of the nut was still on ground. I think it knew that the traffic light is going to switch to green for cars and that is why it decided to get in safe place.
The crow was sitting and sitting and patiently watching for the next round of green light. The next time when the light was red, the crow flew back to his nut and have picked more of the nut, even some bigger pieces it has collected in his beak and flew to the side where it was able to eat without a danger of cars.
I was fascinated watching how clever is the crow and how it used the cars to crack its nut.
The next few days on my way to Uni again I saw the crow again and the whole story started again. I only wondered where he had all the nuts, maybe some people regular feeding the crow and giving him some nuts.
That example only gives me an impression that the animals and birds are very clever, especially crows and they can learn very quickly too.

Wow! A very clever crow indeed, he came up with a clever way of using traffic lights and cars to eat his walnuts in a safe place. It is certainly surprising to see how quickly even animals can learn and strategize according to their environment. Reading the story, one also realizes how small everyday objects like traffic lights or cars, become a chance for some animals to ingenuity and survive. It really makes the heart happy to see these small but intelligent creatures of nature.
