Animal Activities #69: Humpback whale
Hello my dear Steemians,
Last couple of weeks my attention draw the story about stranded whale in Northern part of Germany. Actually since I was a child I heard the stories about whales who were found on sand beaches and due to their heavy weight and and also low water stand the whales had only one outcome their death. Of course, people tried to help with any possible methods trying to drag such whales back to water, but there is almost none of the successful stories.
I also remember that my grandparents told that when the whales are on beaches that only means that they do not want to live and want to die. That is why old people say do not try to save such animals because this is their suicide attempt.
This time the stranded whale was lying close to harbour still majority of body was in water but also the veterinary doctors noted parts of fishing net in the mouth of whale and that only meant that it was not able to eat.
The whale first time managed to free off itself but just within 24 hours it again landed on sand bank.
There were many different opinions of people who lived there, the city government and also veterinary doctors what to do. There were two opinions one to leave the whale alone and just the nature to make decision what happen. Many people wanted to save the whale. The whale was strong and survived for weeks, therefore, one of non-governmental organisation and one of sponsor decided to sponsor rescue of whale.
Over last 24 hours they managed to get the whale on special transport barge and with it to bring the whale up to North sea. Today the whale is still on the way and still felling well, hopefully once the whale in big water it will hopefully recover and live long. That is all people wish to the whale.
