Sheep and its wool

 

It is quite cold winter across UK and time to time we hear the weather forecast about some Snow storms. What we do in cold days? I always have my warm hat, scarf and gloves, they are all knitted from real sheep wool by my grandmother. Actually she did them few years ago but last few years it was not so cold.

Every time when I wear my warm winter clothes I always remember my grandmother and her story about the knitting, that is why I wanted to share it hear.

I remember when I visited my grandparents on their farm few years ago, I visited with her the neighbours, who had some sheep, they are all white colour and they were many. I was there in Spring time and that is time when the sheep’s fleece will be shorn, my grandmother and myself we visited the neighbour who once seeing my grandmother already knew that she came to get some wool for her knitting.

She and her neighbour always exchange some farm products like eggs, milk, meat. The same time my grandmother received wool and she then knitted something for neighbour according their wish.

This time because our neighbour saw me he asked if my grandmother wanted some wool to knit me too? My grandma at that moment said: “Why not? Yes, I will knit you some warm winter stuff”

Over summer months she was working and on Christmas that year she gave my three packed presents. At that time I completely forgotten about that conversation in Spring that is why when I opened the wrapping and found warm knitted hat, scarf and gloves I was very excited and gave my grandma a big hug.

Every time when I wear my warm clothes I always remember my grandmother and that chat when the neighbour was shearing the sheep.
