The word Drought was very strange word for me when I was a child and I remember that I asked my grandmother what does it mean. I remember how it was the time many years ago when I was with my grandparents in summer for holiday. I really enjoyed it because it was very hot and me with my friends we were running outside and played with other kids. I remember that when we were back home and had something to eat, my grandmother was complained to my grandfather that the plants on field started to dry up and the soils was in cracks. It was like the ground because very dry that is the surface was broken. Those days I remember that me and my friends tried to bring water from river and pour to our field for the plants. It was hot day and when my grandfather saw it he told us to stop doing that. We were surprised and then he explained.
My grandfather told that drought is when there is heat for a long time then the soil becomes hard like cement and when the water is given to that soil and also if it is sunny day then water immediately vaporised and it does not help plants but only wasting water.
I also remember that those days my grandparents were very concerned that they will have not enough harvest from all planted vegetables and fruits. Often farmers collect hay from field for their cattle and if there is drought then livestock can not receive enough food, especially that is important for winter time.
When is some countries there is such weather and it is drought then government also supports farmers with both financial support and sometimes providing with water so that farmers still would be able to care after their fields.
That is why it is good to have sunny days but it is important to have rains for fields.
