A cow named Biru. It had a big body and gray-brown fur, and its eyes always seemed to be calm, as if they contained a lot of stories. Biru was no ordinary cow. She had been a member of Mr. Wiryo's family from the time she was a wobbly-legged calf trying to stand.

Biru always woke up earlier than the hens in the compound every morning. While the dew still hung on the tips of the rice paddies, she was in her stable, waiting for Mr. Wiryo to bring fresh grass. The crux In the case of Biru, the sound of Mr. Wiryo's footsteps was a turning point of the day. She was relieved and valued at the same time, even if she expressed it in phrases.

Biru assisted Mr. Wiryo in plowing the rice fields from season to season. With steady, gradual movement, she dragged the wooden plow underneath the chilly earth. Although she was exhausted, Biru never quit. She also knew that from the rice paddies, the rice would grow, and from the rice paddies, Pak Wiryo's family would eat. Silently, Biru felt useful.

One day it rained a lot. The river swelled, and rice paddies were flooded. Mr. Wiryo looked worried because his harvest was going to be ruined. Biru perceived the nervousness of her master. That night, when the wind was strong, Biru's pen was nearly blown over. Yet he stood, guarding the tiny calf that was born just a few weeks ago.

The rain stopped the next day. The sun retreated gradually, warming the damp village. The rice fields were damaged, if not razed. Mr Wiryo patted Biru´s neck with a weak smile. "Thank you," he said in a faint voice. Biru did not know the words, but she knew the warmth of the touch.

Years have passed. Biru is older, her pace now less energetic than it ever was. But she remained an important member of Mr Wiryo's family. To the village, Biru was more than just an ox. She was a quiet observer of hard work, steadfastness, and the very basic connection between people and animals — a connection formed not by language, but by shared trust and honesty.

I really enjoyed your story, Biru's relationship with Mr. Wiryo. The way she protected her calf during the storm shows how much connection animals have with us even when they can't speak. Trust built over years without words is one of the most powerful things anyone can share with another.
