My Diary Game Friday Nov 14, 2025– A Day at Itam Market
Hi friends, it feels good be here after a long while, a lot has been happening with me, well, this is a mark of new beginning for me and I'll be glad to share with us when the time is right. But today I'll be sharing my diary, yesterday was one of those long, busy but a fulfilling days, yeah the kind that leaves me tired but content because everything worked out just fine!
My day began before the sun fully brightened the sky. Over the years it has become part of me to wake up early, to prepare the kids for school. Their sleepy faces always make my mornings sweeter, even when I’m still half-asleep myself. I quickly got into "mummy mode 😘," laying out their uniforms, ironing them beautifully, and making sure their school bags had everything they needed.
Breakfast was simple but comforting: warm pap with enough liquid milk and soft bread. They enjoyed it happily thanking me immensely while still eating. I moved to the kitchen preparing pasta for their lunch box. I like giving them something filling and easy to eat, especially on days when I know I won’t be home early. By 7:45am, they were out the door. My husband dropped them at school, but I gave gave each one a quick hug, before they left and I watched them walk into the car with that childlike enthusiasm I admire so much.
Entering the house, I didn’t even rest. I dived straight into sweeping, arranging the living room, dusting surfaces, and cleaning up the kitchen. You know there’s something peaceful about cleaning in silence, I mean just me and my thoughts. Well, after that, I took my bath, dressed up properly, (black pants and my steemit polo) and began preparing for my main mission of the day which was going to Itam market to shop for groceries and everything I needed to cook editan soup and stew.
By 12 :30 noon, I headed out. The weather was bright, not too hot yet, and I felt light-hearted. Itam market was already bubbling with life when I arrived. Truly, that place never sleeps. I met up with my sis @vickydear, and immediately, the day felt even brighter! You know shopping is always more fun with someone who matches your energy. My sis knows many people at the market so we chit chatted with some, and negotiating prices.
We moved from stall to stall, picking fresh periwinkle, waterleaf, editan leaves, assorted meats, spices, and all the ingredients I needed. I also bought things for stew because, yes once you’re in the market and you see fresh tomatoes and pepper calling your name, you just know you can’t leave without them. Hahaha 😂

Prices of goods have gone up again, I think, it’s now becoming a daily thing, then, I kept reminding myself to be grateful. I mean at least I could afford what I needed. Not everyone has that privilege and I'm no better than them. And despite the rising prices, the market women still manage to keep the atmosphere cheerful. isn't that amazing! At one point, a woman full of joy and energy, started dancing to the beating of one gospel song in front of her stall. It was so heartwarming, so unexpectedly beautiful, that I couldn’t help smiling. Happiness is indeed free.
You see the laughter, the bargaining, the little jokes, the loud greetings, all of this made the four hours I spent in the market feel like one big adventure. Yeah Even though my legs were beginning to complain, my spirit was full.
From the market, I headed to my tailor’s shop to pick up the dress I planned to wear to my cousin’s wedding the next day. I had been worried about whether she would finish it on time, but thankfully, she did. The dress looked so beautiful on me, and I felt that little excitement that comes when you imagine wearing something new and beautiful 😍.
By this time, it was already evening, and my whole body felt heavy. All I wanted was home, I missed my kids and everything, indeed there's no place like home. So I boarded a keke home, along with my sis letting the breeze slap gently against our tired faces. We were gossiping a bit, hahaha 😂 well, the ride was a bit long, but it felt like a small moment of relief.
When I got home, I called my son @vickmoon to come and open the gate for me, my kids were super excited to see me, they welcomed me and get my bags, my beautiful daughter was fast asleep, hmmm there was no time to rest, I still had work to do. I unpacked the things I bought, washed the vegetables, cleaned the fish, and finally settled down to cook my editan soup. The aroma filled the whole house beautifully, and despite being exhausted, I felt proud of myself. Cooking has always been one of the ways I care for my home, and today wasn’t different.
After the soup was done, I took a long hot shower, washing away the sweat and stress of the day. My bed called to me like a warm embrace. As I finally lay down, I smiled to myself.
It had been a successful day, busy, tiring, but full of joy, provision, friendship, and gratitude. And that is more than enough. I'm grateful, thank you so much for reading me this far, see you in my next post!
