I bless the Lord who gives me counsel. In the night also my heart instructs me. Psalm 16:7

In our verse for today, David blesses the Lord for the direction and wisdom he receives from God even in his night time.
The night time generally represents a time in our lives when the path to take in life is not so obvious. It is a time when the light of clarity has set and the darkness of uncertainty arises so that we know not what step to take next; whether it is to make a life changing choice or to get out of a predicament. In such times however bible assures us as believers of direction. And this direction shall not come from the outside but from the inside.
In the opening verse David describes this instruction as stemming from his heart. For us we experience this instruction from our inner man. That inner peace or unrest that seems to have a say in every decision we take. Let's not take that signal for granted nor overlook it. That is God instructing us through our hearts and in our night time, it just may be our only source of direction.
