Romans Chapter 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Scripture in the book of Genesis captures a very interesting and amazing story of how God began the formation and creation of both the heaven and all her host and the world all in just seven days

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth,

Now in Genesis chapter 2, God extended His kingdom down to the earth but then, something had to exist on the earth with the image of God so that He could give it authority over the things He had made. So He created man in His likeness and in His image.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

From the above scripture, we can see the plans God had for humanity (man) that it wasn’t a plan to make man a slave to His creation, but to make man a ruler over them.

Let’s talk a little about the man Adam. Adam was the first man God created and also the first man to have ever had a one on one conversation with God. Now it didn’t just stop there, God went on to deposit into the man Adam the power over the things He created.

Now see the truth is that God also expected that Adam would be a pattern of righteousness to many who will come after Him so God did not all together give man this dominion for nothing. Ultimately God demanded obedience from man not for His good but for man’s good now this brings us to the lesson for today.

The earth is an extension of Heaven with the primary assignment of enforcing the will of God on the earth.

Like we had established earlier that God also demanded obedience from Adam even though He had given him authority and dominion over all that He had created. This had in no wise made man equal with God.

God also needed a being in His image to share intimacy with hence He created man (Adam) so that through Adam, there could be a linage of continuous fellowship and intimacy with humanity. When Adam ate of the fruit God warned him not to eat, He didn’t only alter the connectivity he had with God, He as well altered the relationship his descendant because the plan was that through Adam, all the generations of the world would have a life in God.

So you wouldn’t blame Cain for killing His brother Abel you would blame their Father Adam for the bridge in relationship with God. Because of that singular act of disobedience, different kinds of vices entered in to the through one man.

I want to draw us to a very simple truth that we are not doing God a favour by living holy and righteous and neither are we harming God if we do not live righteously.

Down in my street resides a family that waywardness, violence, poverty and untimely death is the owner of the day among them. Now history has it that the ancestry of that family (permit me to use name “Adam” so that we will be able to understand what Adam did in the garden of Eden and why we should punch ourselves to live righteously) led a totally wicked and ungodly life. Violence and wickedness is what the head of the family was known for. This man had been to prison many times because of either a rape case or a murder case.

Everything that happens in a man’s life is a pattern for the next generation either for good or bad.

None of that man’s children is worth talking about. It is either they die mysteriously or they led a very obscure and wandering life all as a result of what their father did.

Please don’t do a thing that will cause your children suffering for the rest of their lives.

Let’s look at another family that led a righteous life. Another family in my congregation, the man (Adam) led a Godly life though he is not very rich but God has richly blessed all of his seeds.

It is either you are transferring life of you are transferring death to the next generation cause by the sin of one man, death entered the whole generation of mankind and through the obedience of one man life entered the whole generation of man.

If Adam could commit a sin and the consequences of the sin he committed transcended into his children's generation and even unto the generation of others who didn't belong to His linage, then our own actions and even in-actions can also bring consequences to our generations as well.
