In many situations, money makes the difference but it is not the only answer to all problems.

Money is good because it helps us to get what we want. It solves most of our problems but not all of them.

Money gives us a lot of options to choose from and it helps us to get the best from the lot. The use of money has made the world a better place. People from every race, religion, country and political affiliation cannot do witout money.

Money is good or bad depending on two factors;

1. how you got it,
2. how you use it.

Money in itself is not evil but it becomes evil depending on how we got it and used it.

The bible tells us in 1Timothy 6:10 that

"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
And some people craving money have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Money becomes a threat, dangerous or evil when one begins to love it. God is not against riches and wealth. He wants His children to be rich and make a lot if money but He does not want us to love it.

This is because the moment we begin to love money, our love for Him grows cold. Also we can kill for money when we begin to love it.
God knows the dangers that comes along with loving money because we love with the heart but not the head and so the very moment our heart begins to bleed for money then we can expect negative consequences.

DANGERS IN LOVING MONEY

When one loves money, nothing good is expected from the person. The person ends up using foul means to get money and use it selfishly.

I will be discussing three dangers associated with loving money.

1. It replaces our love for God.

2. It can leads to murder.

3. It becomes difficult to lose.

IT REPLACES OUR LOVE FOR GOD

"Do not love the world nor the things it offers, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you".
1Jn 2:15

"No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money".
Matt 6:24

God created love and He knows its power and influence on the heart and that is why His word tells us not to love it. When people fall in love with money, they serve it.

Money has become a god to some Christians. People don't go to church because of money for their money has become their god.

Some people have elevated the power of money beyond God and they rule because of their money. People gives reverence to money rather than God. They serve money and worship money.
This is why God tells us not to love it.

God loves us and He expects a similar love in return. It hurts when you love someone but the person loves another.

If you love God you will serve Him, if you love God you will worship Him.

People say there is no God because they don't love Him

King Solomon once said;

"For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say Who is the Lord. Pro 30:9a

It becomes easy to deny the existence of God when one loves especially money.

LOVING MONEY CAN LEAD TO MURDER

"You must not murder".
Ex 20:13

This particular statement is part of the Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses. And one of the things that leads to the committing of murder is the love for money.

As I stated, money becomes bad depending on how one got or used it. If you can kill your fellow human being in order to get money, then your money becomes evil. Murder is evil and your love for money can lead to it.

Some wives kill their husbands because of money, brothers kill each other because of money, whiles business partners can plot each others death because of the profit from their business. All in the name of money.

When you love money you hate your fellow human being and that hatered can lead you to commit murder.

My brethren, do not kill because you want to be rich.
With all the riches that you will get in the world, you will also die and leave all your money behind.

Work hard to earn money genuiely, do not kill to get it.

LOVING MONEY BECOMES DIFFICULT TO LOSE IT.

"Jesus told him, if you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions...............
I say it again- it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God".
Matt 19:21-24

When people love money, it becomes difficult for them to give away their money to help others.
When one loves something, it becomes very difficult to lose it.

Some people are rich but their family members are financially handicaped, the livelihood of their employees is nothing to write home about etc.
They are not willing to help others improve their livelihood.

But the legendary musician icon Lucky Dube of blessed memory once wrote in a song that,

"What type of a rich man are you who doesn't care for the poor people?
What type of a rich man are you who doesn't care for the helpless people"?

But the answer to his question is very simple, 'a rich man who loves money'.

Beloved, money is not evil but our love for it makes evil by leading us to do evil. That is why the bible says it becomes the fruit of all evil.

Let us work harder to earn what is due us and God will bless the little we have and make it abundant.

John Wesley once said;

Earn all you can,
Spend all you can and
Give all you can.
