LOOKING UNTO THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH

Jesus is the author

“author” in Heb. 12:2 can refer to a captain, chief leader, or prince. The term also refers to the originator. Jesus begins our faith, and like a captain he steers it to a desired destination. As a prince, He oversees our faith like a loving Sovereign

Jesus is the finisher

“finisher” in Heb. 12:2 can be translated “completer” or “perfecter.” The sense is bringing something to its conclusion. Jesus initiates, sustains, and completes my faith. It was and is a gift from God.

Hebrew 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

One of the common dangers in Christian life is ‘RELAPSE’ in , Jesus asks His disciples a very deep question, “WILL YOU ALSO GO AWAY”?

Jesus knows His disciples, and the disciples also know Jesus, but still He asks … “Many went back and never walked with Him again” Many Christians are doing many good things and also ministry, but they are not walking with the Lord! There is a ‘RELAPSE’

First and foremost, we are obliged to focus our eyes on Jesus because he alone deserves to be the center of our attention. True biblical faith, as we’ve already discovered, means believing in God, believing God, and being willing to act on those beliefs—in other words, it’s a matter of the mind, heart and will.

WHEN I LOOK UNTO JESUS, WHAT DO I SEE?

The One who is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the author and the finisher of my faith. The One who created the universe, and holds it together. The One who always was, always is, and always will be. I see the One who is unmoved, unchanging, undefeated, and never outdone. He was bruised that I might be healed. He was pierced that He might ease my pain.He died to give me life.He fought the battle against darkness to bring me peace. The world cannot understand Him.

When we look out at the world, we see the need for God's kingdom. It is a prospect that Jesus treasured in his heart, and since his invisible return, he is currently preparing the world for that very thing. Sometimes we may wonder if what we do in the Lord's service makes any difference, especially if it seems to yield meager results. When we are tempted to think these things, remember what motivated Jesus. He knew that he was being prepared to carry out a plan that no one else at that time could see.

Our responsibility is to continue to look unto Him, and keep on looking to Him. We don't look to Him once, and then that's it. It is a continual and ongoing process. Vines say this means -- observe, discern, perceive. This is not a casual glance, but an intent gaze for the purpose understanding. This is also a decision on our part. We have the opportunity to look at a lot of things as there are always options. Satan will make sure of that. We're always going to have the option to look somewhere else other than to look at the one who is the author and finisher of our faith. I'm making a point of this because what we look at is what our faith will be in.

In conclusion, In the same manner you look unto Jesus expecting Him to save, heal and protect you because you know His mighty power and sacrificial love for you. God’s Word says that we are to keep “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”. That is how God wants us to live.

Therefore is there is any problem you're going through,  look unto Jesus.  When there is a recurring migraine, keep looking unto Jesus. When there is financial breakdown,  look unto Jesus and sees him as the author and finisher of your faith,  see him taking away the problems, the suffering,  the sicknesses upon His body on the cross and say, “Lord, I thank You because by Your stripes I am healed.” and he will provide for all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

 God bless you

Thanks for your time

This is such a powerful write up... we are obliged to focus our eyes on Jesus because he alone deserves to be the center of our attention.
