Jesus gave an illustration about the 10 virgins five of which were wise and discreet and the other five where foolish. - Matthew 25:1,2. The illustration talks about the ten virgins who all stayed awake with their lamps on to receive the bridegroom, when the bridegroom comes the virgins will light up the route with their lamps, honoring him as he brings his bride to the house prepared for her. Now among these ten virgins were five foolish virgins who did not take extra oil for their lamps incase the light went off and this really happened just few minutes before the bridegroom came and they begged the other five who took extra oil for their lamps but they did not give to them because it won't be enough. These five foolish virgins went out to get oil for their lamp but on returning back the gateway door has already been closed and they started knocking and begging the bride groom but he rejected them by telling them "I do not know you" - MATTHEW 25:10-12.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN CONCERNING THE ILLUSTRATION JESUS GAVE CONCERNING THE TEN VIRGINS?

Jesus does not mean that half of his disciples who inherit the kingdom of the heavens are foolish and the other half discreet. Rather, Jesus is making the point that in connection with the kingdom each of his disciples has the capacity to choose to be vigilant or to be distracted. Jesus has no doubt, though, that each of his servants can remain faithful and receive his father's blessings.

When Jesus Christ has concluded his illustration about the ten virgins he told his disciples to "keep on the watch, therefore, because you know neither the day nor the hour" - MATTHEW 25:13.

clearly, Jesus is admonishing his faithful followers through the illustration about the ten virgins that in connection with his presence they will need to "keep on the watch". He will be coming, and they need to prepare and be extra VIGILANT just like the five wise and discreet virgins who brought extra oil with their lamps. Jesus is telling us that in to other for us not to miss out when he comes we need to be vigilant and watchful.

One way we can remain vigilant and watchful is by always practicing what the Bible says and following the counsel found in God's word which includes reading it day and night. The Bible made us to understand that Jesus will come unexpectedly. My fellow steemitians this is not the time for us to lessen down our faith in God. We don't want to be like the foolish virgins who were not fully prepared for the bridegroom.

We are all living in a critical world hard to deal with. We are all faced with various trials and tribulations that may want to weeken our stance in the truth. Don't give up, keep on enduring and enduring and this should be the time your faith in God is very strong.

May we all continue to imitate the example of the five wise virgins by being vigilant and watchful as the end draws near and we can be rest assured that we are going to be blessed when the Lord comes if only we continue to keep on the watch.

hello sir @steemchurch, i want to join steemchurch community, how do i go about it?

We will try and do exactly this "May we all continue to imitate the example of the five wise virgins by being vigilant and watchful as the end draws near and we can be rest assured that we are going to be blessed when the Lord comes if only we continue to keep on the watch" thanks and God bless you

Clearly, Jesus is admonishing his faithful followers that in connection with his presence, they will need to “keep on the watch.” He will be coming, and they need to be prepared and vigilant—like the five discreet virgins—in order not to lose sight of their precious hope and miss out on the reward that can be theirs.

We should always be prepared to face the judgement day.
The Lord Jesus christ has always highlighted it that Hus coming will be unknown by anybody .
While we are still alive we should be prepared always to see his glory when he will come again.
Whatsoever we are doing on earth now that er are alive is very important because the lord u watching us and he is ready to ask us what we have use our time for.
He will not ask you on the last day whether you make your way clear or you prepare it.
Be ready for Hus coming .

Thanks for this great post. Truly, starting is essentially great, but not as remarkable as finishing strong.

Matthew 24:13 tells us:

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

God help us through His spirit to be watchful till very end.

Lack of vigilance may make us miss the kingdom.
Be vigilant.
Thanks

Exactly! A lot of things are happening in the world right and sometimes, we get carried away with those things. We have to be watchful because we do not know when He's coming would be.

this is not the time for us to lessen down our faith in God

I like this, we should back track or slide backwards in our faith, we should always be prepared.

One of the way of being vigilant and watchful is by preparing yourself ahead of what lies in front. Let us know that we ought be spiritually watchful all the time.

The parable of the foolish virgins should always rekindle our consciousness that we're just strangers on earth. Always being aware of all the devices of the enemy.
