I was raised in a bit of a hybrid situation. My mother put the responsibility on us, while my father had a lot of 'my way or the highway'. It worked out :)

My journeyman not only taught me a lot, but he backed me. When he knew I knew that was enough. Only a couple of people had the misfortune of telling him that they hired him to do ___________. He straightened them out pretty fast. I've always appreciated that.
