In the eastern world, we don't see it as much of a problem lol. I had my father beating me to frequently whenever I did something wrong, but it was not much of the issue. It was like yeah, I did something too terrible and I needed to be punished. I had been slapped, kicked and beaten with belt/ sticks or whatever comes handy. :)
