Hello Steemians!

I decided to jump into Week 2 of the Steemit Challenge Season 28, and this is actually my first time joining any challenge on the platform. It feels good stepping out pushing myself creatively.
For this entry, I’m sharing the full process behind my sunflower painting from the early sketch to the final touches. I really enjoyed working on the colors, the mood, and the overall simplicity of the piece.
Looking forward to learning from others and growing throughout this challenge.

Process

So I started with my sketch first, this helps me have an idea how the finished work gonna lookIMG_20251126_103745_084.jpg

Started my painting blocking the background with colors, I had to go outdoor to properly see the hues while painting IMG_20251126_124358_394.jpg

Next I painted the sunflower

Next I started blocking in orange color for the vase and gave shadows for the painting to start popping out

Started working on highlights and mid tone at this stage, believe me I was already falling in love with the painting.

I gave all necessary fishing and highlights at this stage which made the painting to look alive

Actually no, this my discipline so I do have a good amount of materials always available.

It's interesting to see how you block the background first. I never saw anyone paint this way.
You never make a backround first?

Do you paint in layers?

As far as I can see it looks good. I wish you good luck.
