Akwanga Butcher Shop

In my town, we have several butcher shops within and outside of the market, but the butcher shops in the market offer customers affordable prices compared to those that operate in a coldroom service by selling frozen chicken and fish.

I visited the butcher shop that is inside Akwanga old market as it is the oldest butcher shop in the town. This butcher shop is inside the market, as I earlier said and the market is along Jos and Keffi-Abuja road which is the busiest road in the town.

The butcher shop is big and different varieties of meat are sold in the butcher shop. In a day about 2 to 3 cows are slaughtered daily and sold in the butcher shop.

Cow meats

At the butcher shop, there is a section of the butcher shop that sells cow meat, and a section that sells goat meat. Chickens are sold live and it's outside the butcher shop that one can get fish and chicken.

Goat meats

At the butcher shop, there are two entries and exits through which buyers can enter and exit the butcher shop.
As a buyer if you want to buy meat, be it goat meat, or cow meat you will have to meet the seller and tell him the amount and part of meat that you want to buy before it can be cut for you.

Sellers accept two payment methods; cash payment and bank transfer are the two acceptable payment methods at the butcher shop.

The lowest price that one can buy meat is ₦1,000 which is equivalent to 10.5 STEEM. A kilo of meat is sold for ₦7000 which is equivalent to 74 STEEM.
