Parbatipur Fish Market

✓ Store name, location and opening hours.

The name of this market is Parbatipur Fish Market. There are many fish sellers in this market, but I chose one specific shop because I know the seller personally. This fish shop is located inside the main fish market area of Parbatipur town.

Usually, this fish shop opens early in the morning between 6:00–6:30 AM. Most of the fish are sold before noon, so the shop generally closes in the afternoon.

✓ Detail the different meats or fish. (Quality, price).

In this fish market, many varieties of fish are available. You can find river fish, sea fish, small fish, and large fish very easily. The most popular fish here are Hilsa, Golda shrimp, Katla, Pabda, Rui, Shail, and many types of small fish.

All the fish are generally fresh because the sellers bring them early in the morning from the wholesale market. Below is the list of available fish with their prices.

✓ Payment methods.

Since this is a traditional local fish market, only cash payment is accepted here. Credit or mobile banking systems are not available. Sometimes trusted customers may buy fish on credit, but this is very rare. Most transactions are done in cash only.

✓ Other points that you believe are relevant to mention.

The fish seller is a very polite and honest person. He sells fish with very small profit margins. Every morning he brings fresh fish from the wholesale market and runs the shop with the help of one assistant.

There is enough space in front of the shop where customers can stand comfortably. Another person nearby helps customers by cutting and cleaning the fish after purchase. The seller always behaves politely with customers, which makes shopping here pleasant.

Shail Fish

✓ Details about its structure, environment, service, among others.

The shop is small, but well organized. The seller arranges fish neatly according to type and size, so customers can easily choose what they want. Cleanliness is well maintained, which is very important in a fish market.

If a fish shop is dirty, bad smells can drive customers away. That is why this shop is kept clean at all times. Sometimes the seller also gives small discounts on selected fish.

1000073030.jpgPangas Fish

✓ How often do you buy meat or fish at this establishment?

I usually buy fish from this shop once a week. Fresh fish tastes much better than frozen fish. Most of the time, I visit this shop on Friday morning, because it is a holiday for me.

Sometimes, if I buy more fish and already have enough at home, I visit this shop only two or three times a month. Otherwise, I regularly come here once every week.

Pabda Fish

✓ When shopping at these stores, what do you value most: low prices, cleanliness, or friendly service?

When buying fish, I value cleanliness and fair prices the most. Even if the seller is friendly, I will not buy fish from a dirty place or where prices are too high.

I always prefer shops where fish are fresh, prices are reasonable, and the environment is clean. Buying food from an unhealthy place can be harmful to our health.

Rui & Katla Fish

✓ How do you consider the prices in this place compared to other establishments in your area?

Compared to other fish markets, I think the prices here are slightly lower. Since Parbatipur is a small town, sellers understand that if prices are too high, people will not buy fish.

That is why they try to sell fish at affordable prices, so they can sell all their stock on the same day without waste.
