2932 followers, just 68 followers away from 3000! But we need to start learning from Reddit and emulating their success!. Here are a few things I have learned from Reddit's rise that we can use...
So having 2932 followers , just 68 away from 3000, it made me think about the dialogue between individual users and the Audience. While using Reddit, you can be sure that front page material ends up being seen by 240 million users, potentially a good chunk of America (since Reddit is the #4 website in America) while on Steemit we only have a few hundred thousand users, maybe less than 100,000 real human users (and this will grow) so it will be some time before we have the audience reddit has but it might only take a year or two if the Steemit App is a huge hit and we see Pokemon Go or Snapchat adoption type numbers and its possible but to be conservative I will argue that its more realistic to expect a few years before we have the 240 million user audience of reddit which itself took reddit a decade to grow to....but in 10 years i say we will be at Facebook levels with 2 billion + users and $2500 Steem or more! But let's get back to Audiences and see what we can expect in the future from studying reddit.
(This article here will be the basis of my next post which teaxches the secrets to how reddit users compete for karma which noone cares about buit these same rules apply to steemit so here is a greatly undervalued piece of information! https://www.dailydot.com/irl/upman-reddit-comment-karma-record-breaking/ )
According to The Daily Dot Reddit has spent almost no money on advertising! They point to an article by Reddit Creator on FastCompany about how they only spent $500 on stickers at one point and have since not spent any money on advertising and I am starting to wonder if there is a similar plan with the heads of Steemit XD but I actualy know that it is not because there are millions sitting ready for marketing and advertising once Steemit is ready, but we are still in Beta so there is much to fix and get ready before we get millions of new users signing up!
Reddit users are charitable, they started the whole online charity movement in a way, they really did help a lot of people, the whole reddit pizza thing where people without money who were hungry would have a reddit user they had never met or talked to just order a pizza for them, and so many countless other cases, one of which listed in the Daily Diot article about how Reddit raised the $10,000 needed for a security wall around an orphanage in Africa after a machete attack, and so reddit raised $100,000 ! Images like this with African children lined up with a "thank you Reddit" sign make me hopeful that Steemit will be able to do SO much more!
Those orphans would be getting jobs for life instead of just some one time payment, this is why I see so much more promise in steemit! We need to teach users how to avoid upvoting reposts because unlike Reddit, here the upvotes actually count for something and matter!
I found this GIF on the DailyDot article about Reddit and i realized that this reddit meme GIF about reposts getting to the front page "Guardians of the Front Page" can be repurposed for steemit, and if we could even replace the test that says Reddit with "steemit" we could even make this a meme for steemit and steemit users wouldn't even KNOW it came from reddit!
Just IMAGINE all of the great Reddit memes we can now use and repurpose for steemit!
here are some more!
Ahhh I repurposed this one for steemit!
Here | is | a table |

just | wanted | to |

So as much as i could make Advertising and Charity for publicity as ways to become as successful as reddit, I should realize that Memes will actually be our road to glory
(Anyone know who made this GIF? And we need MORE steemit memes!)
We need to support @zombee 's http://dmania.lol It is like 9gag but all on steem blockchain, like what Dtube is to youtube or Dsound is to Soundcloud, its like a decentralized steem based 4chan to share image memes! https://steemit.com/steem/@zombee/introducing-dmania-9gag-on-steem-make-money-with-memes )
I have been on discord all day steemspeak.com and I appreciate the work by @gyzimo and the rantings of @sargento and the super sexy voice of @battleaxe and she basically runs the chat now, and of course @frystikken for being a good leader and for creating steemspeak.com and it is HIGHLY entertaining! also shoutout to @sargento and @captainobviou3 and @jtstreetman and @inertia and @molovelly @steemitqa @mynameisbrian and the rest!
Want to be my 3000th follower? Well I am almost there! just a few more to go and I will be at 3000! Thanks for reading!
Thank you @tytran for the T shirt and steemit swag! Check his steemit page for Esports updates and crypto trading advice!
if you are in San Diego talk to me and @captainobvious and maybe come to his meetup this friday? No one is coming yet and I can't make it so we need to move it! https://steemit.com/steemdiego/@captainobviou3/i-got-a-package-from-papa-pepper-or-steemdiego-meet-up-is-around-the-corner-or-video-included this is it and we should plan a new one!
Let us bask in the glory of steemit and pray for $2 steem
I think that's a high valuation for steemit. But it will definitely go up a lot. I like you enthusiasm and it was cool to kick it with you on chat for a bit earlier. And yes I think Reddit is the closest thing to steem that is mass adopted. And I think we will surpass the Reddit userbase eventually. I like Reddit though still. I wonder what it would be like if Reddit just made an smt for their Reddit gold.. how do you think that scenario would play out?
I think community will greatly help and obviously as you said the Steem mobile app could be the big thing a very big thing for Steem. That's my hope too.
nice post @ackza
I wonder when the communities feature will be enabled... Without it, we can never be like reddit.. We need this yesterday!
P.S. That repost gif is hilarious XD
Yes the reason we didnt have siubreddits right out the gate is because steemit is way more complex than reddit, im sure at first this makes people frustrated and question their faith, ask why not just use reddit, but that is like someone having problems wit Bitcoin Scaling and complainng of $4 fees that we should just go back to using Paypal and Visa cards instead of Bitcoin....but it was worse because steemitt was so small didnt have many people
but the comunities are coming, subreddits werent possible before because they didnt have a way to seperate the content out but @chainbb by @jesta was created and peopel ave learned a lot about how to simply sepeatre content into different sections and now we will finaly get to compte with reddit and our communities will be sooooo powerful, i think we maybe also needed to all be in teh same place first NOW qwe can seperate out and have our own safe spaces LOL I mean subreddits haha subreddits are reddits safe spaces lol haha
👍
There's a shitpost tolerant meme library where i can make money by reposting shitpost?!?!
damn straight, memes NEED blockchain to stay crispy
This pirate's picture just killed me here. Lol 😀😀😀😀
Its so exciting to be on the ground floor. I think most people don't realize how lucky we are to be a part of this as a community. Things of this magnitude are usually only available to the elite. If the power of the community could be harnessed the growth could be exponential.
Thanks for sharing ,
