I Went so Fast that the Whole Mountain Burnt Down (SnowBlog Day 7)

in #steemit7 years ago

Today I went riding with a couple of friends, two guys who I hadn’t spent much time with. The weather was great, we had fresh powder from a full night of snowing and almost no wind. On the other hand, it was a Saturday and there was a ton of traffic on the way up.

Luckily the lines weren’t so long up on the lift and once we got to the trails we had a blast. I love riding on fresh snow, especially over areas that have not been touched yet.

My friends were both excellent riders. One of them has been on a board since he was 12 (now he is 45) and the other one grew up snowboarding in Colorado. This served me as motivation to go faster and keep up with their pace. Of course, I wasn’t able to, but I did my best and even dared to let my board go straight down on some fairly steep terrain. I went so fast the mountain caught on fire! =P

We had an awesome time, except for the moment when my friend rode over and fell over some rocks. Seems that despite all the snowing from last night we still don’t have enough snow to cover some trails. He actually got hurt pretty badly, but when we got back to his place I gave him a massage and left him feeling much better. =D

My take from the day was that it is important to ride with people much better than me to force me into faster runs and more challenging trails. I also learned that no matter how good someone is, we can always get hurt and so we have to be careful and never get too comfortable in any terrain.

The title sounds like you where on something, had to read through to find out it's just a metaphor.
