What? Steemit... Penalized With No Explanation or Warning...

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

How many people have had this issue...
@steemcleaners flagging, demonetizing, and hiding a post of yours without an actual explanation? I am curious because their comment only said that "It may not be a scam, but some may take it as spam..." I commented asking for an explanation because i was confused and have not gotten a response. I don't really know how to address that. If it is original video content (a vlog), giving my opinions on MULTIPLE topics... how is that spam?
Is it safe to assume that only the title and comments were read and the video content wasn't watched? If there was an issue with my title, couldn't I have just been told in the comments so I had a chance to correct it rather than 2 vlog posts being hidden from everyone to see?
I am brand new to the platform and am just looking for answers or insight so i don't get any of my vlogs/posts flagged in the future. I am hoping that steemcleaners sees this so i can have a better explanation of what was wrong with my content so this does not happen again in the future.

I'm a noobie here as well, so the best I can figure is that some people here have figured out the dual nature of flagging other's content.
First, I remember reading somewhere that a downvote (flagging) has just as much potential for a payout as upvoting does. If that is true it leaves on the table the potential for persons or groups of persons (or even bots and a network of bots) to build a network based on nothing but mutual flagging for payout & profit.
Second, as you have already hinted to in a comment, if it goes against someone's personal beliefs or practices of Z (no matter if your content is true and can help others interested in the Y personal belief/practice we may be producing an article on, it may be an indirect threat to their personal belief/practice of Z), the only means to censor us in favor of their own beliefs/practices being seen is to flag it.
Sad that people can not just express their own thoughts, beliefs, and opinions in a comment. A big draw for me to stay here was the statement that steemit is 'decentralized and can not be censored'... yet that is proving not to be the case. Allowing others the freedom to flag without justification, thus hiding content, is the basic building blocks for censorship with no other purpose than to hide content based on OPINIONS.
I agree, the system needs changing. I believe an opinion should not be justification to hide and bury posts simply because a few got a little butthurtz and launch a flagging campaign against another user.

Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻! I couldn't have said it any better. I wish I could pin this comment to the top of all of them...

I checked out @steemcleaners page and I dont even understand how they make that much per post if they are following no one. To me it seems like they have no intention of reciprocating for all the upvotes and money they are making so I just muted them. This is about sharing and if you just take then wtf is the point.

Exactly my point... they are whales who have tons of steem power just flexing their power by shutting you down if they don't agree.

Yeah man . Just some non-violent liberals imposing their way on someone violently.

They are like the trolls from that South Park episode 😂

exactly!!! lol

I delete one person who was a food blogger and she was basically was going around and flagging shit for her reasons. I just blocked her. If something is flagged I would like a quality explanation.

That's what i am saying. I looked at who did it and one was a group that seem to vote on each others stuff. They all flagged my video, one of them did twice, and then steemcleaners did my other one. I asked why, not to be confrontational, but for constructive purposes being that i am new... no response.

Yea they all get their friends in on it. Just say here is a pic I got from Google or YouTube and I wanted to share it. That's what I do

How do you delete people? By "muting" them?

Yes mute them but idk if they can still see your posts.

Would you be willing to share the username of said flag-happy user, or any other users we suspect are abusing the flag option, so that others may avoid such users and even remove them from those we are following (if we are in fact following them)? Thank You.

No because I don't want to become a target. If there was an anonymous way, than yes.

I just made a new post that has a picture in it with all of their usernames... they are obviously the ones in the picture giving me "negative votes"

People are shitbirds sometimes and do it for no reason. Like when I post about genesis mining I get flagged by others who use hash flare or others just because they don't like to see it, not because it is bad at all. I used to feel bad like I did something wrong too

How is that fair though? Shouldn't someone be moderating the SteemCleaner? I'm looking through things they have replied to and a lot of it I don't see as valid reasoning to hide someone's content... this is kind of messed up.

100% I agree, thats like sometimes people on Facebook flag my ads for no reason and its literally a free program to help people. Its just people being ass-hats bro, don't worry. I don't think it actually does anything.

It demonetized them... the money that was associated with the videos is no longer there and i don't think that the videos/posts are visible to people when they go to my channel.

Oh wow, I didn't see that happen to me. I just thought you got a post from them.

Anyone that watch(es) my videos know that they aren't spam... they are 100% my own opinion on a multitude of things lol

lol spammer! haha jk bro, you are good, forget the idiots flagging for no reason.

welcom sir
