⚠️[HACKING WARNING]⚠️ FlaminGirl's tips ANTI-HACKING on Steemit - Part 1
My dear Steemit family,
I take the time to write this "SPECIAL EDITION" because the SECURITY on Steemit doesn't wait!
This subject is really urgent and more important than anything else! Some of my friends on Steemit got hacked and I would not want it to happen to others ...
Whether you're a beginner or not, there are a few things you need to be very careful about Steemit!
The HACKING also exists on Steemit and as our account steemit it is a little like our bank account, it is necessary to be very vigilant!
You certainly do not want to see your wallet empty and me either.
MY FIRST TIPS ANTI-HACKING is:
1- Always check that you are on https://steemit.com/
It may sound a bit "basic" as advice but a careless mistake can be fatal, believe me!
In fact, hackers use slightly different addresses for it to go unnoticed. They change a single letter in the address, for example: "steewit" or "sleemit" and you click on it without paying attention and you end up on a page that is not a steemit page!
At this moment, what's happening?
Hackers use well-honed methods to try to steal your password. Yes, that's their goal!
- Personal experience:
The hacker, often a robot, post a comment on your article, which tells you that your post has been plagiarized by another user.
Then there is panic, stress goes up, and you no longer pay attention to the address at the top of your address bar because you are focused on this plagiarism story and that's the big drama!
As you can see in this screenshot, there is a small window that appears asking you for your name and password, that is, to access the plagiarized content.
🚨🚨🚨 That's when you absolutely must NOT GIVE ANYTHING! Because if you look well in the address bar, it is not a steemit page but teemit!
Rest assured, I did not give my name or password, but it's the kind of thing that could have happened to me because I'm not always attentive...
➥ What should you do in this situation?
🚨🚨🚨 As you may have understood, you should NOT GIVE your personal information on this kind of link, especially your PASSWORD!
- If you notice that the address has been changed and it is not a steemit page, you can report it to platform administrators who are dealing with such issues.
The @steemcleaners group is one of them and was created to help Steemit users fight against spam, plagiarism, identity theft / deception, malware / viruses / phishing .... And they can also help you reward for reporting abuse on the platform.
- If it's too late, you have entered your name and password, urgently contact security@steemit.com where steemit administrators can help you.
If you want to know more, I invite you to read this:

I must say this is a great post. You are right, our steemit account is more like our bank account and nobody will wish for his or her bank account to be hacked. I must also say that we should always be careful when accessing some website page on steemit because some are been used by hackers like ypu have said. Any website that is asking of your private keys instead of asking of your permission through the use of steemconnect is not to be trusted. Some hackers may also come in form of rewarding the steemit user like this
"Login using your steemit account and get a free 5 steem for registration. We should have know that that one is fake and can not be trusted. We should try to keep our steemit private keys very very careful and private to only us. We should not let any other third party to have access to our steemit private keys. And lastly also like you said we should be careful when accessing those websitw by looking at their spellings very well. Some may petend to spell it like steemit and by that they mislead many steemit user to it and by that they access theyr private keys and their account is been hacked.
This is really a great and well informative and helpful post for all steemit user.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your very interesting message!
You are absolutely right you have to pay attention to several things and noticeably to special characters like:
That are now allowed in the addresses! =(((
yeah, it's very easy to get phished and lose your steem.
I would be very sad if that happened to me.
thanks for the tips, I would also add stay away from downloading PDFs they can easily have a little script piggybacking on them, something like share screen or keylogger. Could screw your life up.
Thanks for the information @flamingirl.... i have gain one or two things from your post
Glad to hear it my friend! =D
Resteemed ! Good post!
Very Important article, thanks
Thanks for this information given
Hmmm... yes... These secret search links and pages make my head sometimes very hot..and mad also ... sometimes I am also under great pressure and I get a lot of these links, now there is silence. But like they say silence before the storm...we see.
I try be ready when I see this links more.
One thing I recommend everyone to do is change their codes every one and two months also. ( Sometimes they wait a few months before they make attacks, so this codes changes also gives you the opportunity to change the code before they can do something on your pages.
Thank you for your comment and for the advice!
You're right, we're never too careful!
You are welcome .... and I think I have to make this post myself also, so that many would be aware of it. But your post come very good and easy to read :)
