Being Mindful of Your Wallet Transfers and Keeping Your Steemit Account Secure
Wallet Transfers
How to make a Wallet Transfer
- Go to the main top bar and click on "Wallet"
- If you want to send Steem, go to "STEEM" and click the down arrow, then choose "Transfer"
- If you want to send SBD, go to "STEEM DOLLARS" and click the down arrow, then choose "Transfer"
You will then see the following screen.
Be careful of where you are sending your Steem/SBD, double check the spelling of who you are sending it to, and be sure to also double check how much you are sending!
The Minnow Support Project and indivdual users who happen to be whales are not bid bots!
The Minnow Support Project constantly receives messages from users saying that they sent money to MSP by mistake because they thought MSP was a bid bot.
I have also seen users send money to other individual users (whales) because they think they are bid bots.
Please do research before sending any SBD or Steem to anyone.
If you want to use a bid bot, you should use this website:
https://steembottracker.com/
It not only gives an up to date list of most bid bots, it can also help you make the best choice as to which bid bot to use and when.
Password Safety
Your Main Password is for account recovery purposes.
Do not lose it!!!
However, for safety reasons, it is not a good idea to store your Main Password on your computer.
Here are the steps you should take to ensure your Password saftey:
Make a text file containing your passwords
Convert it to a password protected zip file
Save that zip file to a thumb drive
Print all of your passwords:
Private Posting Key
Private Active Key
Private Memo Key
Master PasswordKeep your printed copy and the thumb drive in a fire proof safe
Review of the difference between Private Active Keys and Private Posting Keys:
Private Active Key:
Allows users to make wallet transactionsPrivate Posting Key:
Allows users to post on Steemit
If you regularly use your Master Password when logging in, you are risking the safety of your account.
You should only use your Private Posting Key when logging in to Steemit, or your Private Active Key if necessary, but you should not use your Main Password.
If your Private Posting Key ever happens to be stolen, the person who stole it will not have access to your wallet so your wallet and money will still be safe.
Third Party Apps
NEVER sign into a third party app with your Master Password.
Some third party apps that deal with financial transactions will ask for Private Active Keys.
Always do due diligence to ensure the app is safe.
Web Browsers
Never save your passwords in your web browser.
Some web browsers ask if you would like to save your password.
Always say no.

All great tips, @isaria! One thing about passwords and that copying and pasting them you have to be careful. You wouldn't want to accidently paste it somewhere public when trying to share something else!
