This is the sixth issue of The Daily Steem! Its all about what's been happening at Steemit, a rundown of the big accounts, the trading activity, hot posts, and anything else I can think to add at the time. I'm looking to improve this report by adding more data etc...but it really depends what people want to see, so if you enjoy it please give me feedback ( @moneybags ) on how to improve it.

Before I go any further, I would like to thank those who supported the previous issue of The Daily Steem, @sizzlingmonkeys @paul-gillbanks @whatisnew @fernandam @uzdc . STEEM/BTC Market Performance Over the Past 24 Hours

Steem has been getting smoked, there is no good way to say it, over the past 24 hours its down close to 14% today against the USD and down 11% against BTC, that's some big underperformance.

As someone looking to invest some money in Steem this is a positive for me, but I realize it is painful for others as account sizes shrink. So what's happening? It appears to be largely driven by the uncertainty surrounding the BTC hardfork which is looking like it could create some real problems, or maybe the fear is overblown?

The top earner was @tamim with 455 SP, with five Steemians earning over 200 SP over the past 24 hours by authoring content. The top author tamim has actually been on several of our lists before, including the biggest Power Ups, which he/she is clearly putting to good use by creating some big posts with that whale power. If you know of an author who didn't earn anything close to this amount, but think they should have, then please link to their blog below and we'll consider adding a top list for the next edition of The Daily Steem.

Posting blogs isn't the only way to strike it rich, these content curators took home some massive rewards as well, especially @abit who continues to crush the leaderboard day after day, clearly has something figured out, and having a 2 million SP account can't hurt either. You'll need a large account to score well in curation rewards though, as whales beget whales here.

What Activities Generate the Most Steem?

Well hands down the answer is authorship, writing blogs is key if you want to grow in the community, but on top of just publishing content, you also need to grow your own power, network, and community in order to have people help curate your posts towards the Hot and Trending areas where most of the magic happens. So keep on blogging, even if you aren't getting traction, you will, hang in there!
