7 Reasons Why I Adopted Steemit Quickly (English/Turkish)

I joined Steemit in January 2018 and quickly adopted to the environment. In this article I will try to explain why I have embraced Steemit so much.

1. I'm Earning Money From My Articles, Essays And Stories

I've been writing for years. In July 2016, my sci-fi novel, The Ultimate Debate on the struggle of androids to have equal rights with humans was published in Turkey. It's nice to write essays, articles, stories, novels, but making money from these can only be possible for famous writers.

It was a short period of time when I made money from what I wrote years ago. The internet in Turkey was just becoming widespread. An internet magazine for young people gave me 100 USD each for the essays I wrote. Three essay were published in the magazine, and then it was closed because it was not able to achieve the success hoped by the company. The experience of making money in writing was a pleasant moment for me.

I like more or less making money in Steemit.

2. Steemians Are Very Supportive

From the first article I published in Steemit, I have seen a lot of attention and support from the people here. Steemit has a very conscious audience. They understand what is written very well and, more importantly, share their thoughts about what I wrote. There are Steemians who care more about me than myself. They informed me like;

"Be careful when you use bid bots, it is risky"

"Consider translating your stories to English, so you can reach a wider audience"

"You stated that the table is below, it is above in fact"

Turkish community educated me about the software tools that I would use, the methods to reach more people. The attitude didn't change when I started to write English and reach non-Turkish Steemians. I've received many valuable feedbacks.

3. Steemit System Resembles Computer Games

I am a member of the first generation in Turkey that has been able to meet computer games in childhood. When I was in secondary school, I remember now how I played the Atari, Commodore games with great enthusiasm. I can't describe myself as gamer, and I've been playing a lot less games as my responsibilities for my business and family life grew. Still, I'm curious about all kinds of play. While the Steemit is being established, the concept of marketing terminology called gamification has been heavily exploited.

Computer games usually have two basic goals, such as earning points and jumping levels. Both seem to be adapted to Steemit. For example, the reputation score written in parentheses next to your profile names can be treated as a parameter that shows both points and levels. You start with 25, and over time, that score is rising. The number of followers can also be considered as a game element.

In Steemit, you are likened to different sea creatures according to your Steem power. Depending on the size of your steem power, you become plankton, small fish, dolphin, orka and whale, respectively.

4. I'm Getting A Quick Feedback

Those who have written a story or article and sent it to any journal know that you may have to wait for days to get feedback on whether or not the article will be published. Of course, there is no guarantee that you will receive any response. If you want to publish a book, the evaluation period for the work you submit may be months. Similar to magazines, publishers are not very careful about responding to authors, they respond if they want to, and few respond with a meaningful feedback.

Due to the nature of the digital environment, things are moving a lot faster here. I have received positive or negative feedback from readers a few minutes after publishing any article. Moreover, I can interact with them.

5. Steemit Envorinment Requires Too Many Calculations

The fact that the Steemit environment requires a lot of calculations may not be the reason for preference for everyone. Therefore, this substance is probably only valid for engineers like me. Steemit require a lot of analytical expertise for an end-user environment. The system is not easy to understand and you have to make lots of calculations to make money. I like being able to use my numerical skills here. I'm trying to help the community as much as I can.

6. I Can Do Quite Extensive Work On The Text Editor

I've had experience writing and publishing blogs in other mediums before. I can make extensive arrangements as if I was publishing a magazine on Steemit's editor. I can enrich my writing with visuals , gifs, tables, etc. I can't say that the use of the text editor is practical. I have to add small pieces of code to bring the images and text to the form I want. The editor we use will hopefully reach the practicality we are used to from other text editors soon.

7. I Believe That This Medium Will Become Much More Important In The Future

It is also important that I believe in the future of this place to be so motivated to write in Steemit. I have a certain number of followers, and I make a certain amount of money. The number of Steemit users worldwide is more than 1 million.

In the coming period, Steemit user count will increase rapidly and Steemit will become a large social media network such as Youtube, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Around 80,000 new users are joining Steemit worldwide every month. Every new participation to the community brings a new breath, a new perspective.

The article was like Steemit's introductory ad, so let me mention some of Steemit's problems in order to provide a balanced view. The most important problem I see about Steemit is the price volatility of Steem currencies, which is the basis of the system. In a month Steem and/or Sbd price can double or halved, so the same situation applies to your income. Another problem is the need to learn too much to use the environment properly. It is not reasonable to expect the end user to make so much effort to learn a platform. Another problem is investors dominance on the system. Thanks to high steem power, they can distribute a lot of rewards and become popular. Of course, it is important to note that those who invest in Steem are taking a huge financial risk.

Some of us invest in the Steemit system with our money and some of us with our labor. We will see you how much we can get back in the future.

Perhaps the journey itself is as important as the range to be reached. I enjoy this journey for myself.

Steemit'i Hızla Benimsememi Sağlayan 7 Neden

Steemit'e bu yılın Ocak ayında katıldım ve ortama hızla adapte oldum. Bu yazıda Steemit'i neden bu denli benimsediğimi anlatmaya çalışacağım.

1. Yazdıklarımdan Para Kazanıyorum

Yazma işiyle uzun yıllardır uğraşıyorum. 2016 yılının Temmuz ayında yapay zekalı androidlerin insanlarla eşit haklara sahip olma mücadelesini konu alan Ogox isimli bilimkurgu romanım yayınlandı. Öyküler, romanlar yazmak güzel ama yazıdan para kazanmak ancak kitapları çok satılan ünlü yazarlar için söz konusu olabiliyor.

Yıllar önce yazdıklarımdan para kazandığım kısa bir periyot olmuştu. Türkiye'de internet yeni yeni yaygınlaşıyordu. Şimdi ismini dahi hatırlamadığım gençlere yönelik bir internet dergisi yazdığım denemeler için yazı başına 100 dolar veriyordu. Dergide 3 yazım yayınlanmış, ardından dergi bağlı olduğu holding tarafından umulan başarıyı elde edemediği için kapatılmıştı. Yazıdan para kazanma deneyimi hoş bir anı olarak kalmıştı benim için.

Steemit'e yazdıklarımdan az ya da çok para kazanıyor olmak hoşuma gitti. Olay tamamen duygusal bir bakıma. 🤑

1. İnsanlardan Çok Destek Gördüm

Steemit'te yayınladığım ilk yazıdan itibaren buradaki insanlardan çok fazla ilgi ve destek gördüm. Steemit'te çok bilinçli bir okur kitlesi var. Yazılanları çok iyi kavrıyor ve daha da önemlisi yazdıklarım hakkındaki düşüncelerini paylaşıyorlar. Beni benden daha çok düşünen Steemitçiler de var ayrıca, "aman hocam teklif usulü bot kullanma zarar edersin" diyenler, "bu öyküleri Türkçe yazma burada harcanırsın" diye yol gösterenler, "tablo aşağıda demişsin ama yukarıda aslında" gibi yönlendirmeler yaparak yazılarımı düzeltmemi sağlayanlar oldu. Faydalanacağım yazılım araçlarını, daha fazla insana ulaşmak için kullanacağım yöntemleri, ele almam gereken konuları kulağıma fısıldayan topluluk üyeleri oldu. Hepsine çok teşekkür ediyorum. 🤠

1. Steemit Sistemi Oyunu Andırıyor

Bilgisayar oyunları ile çocukluk yaşlarında tanışabilmiş Türkiye'deki ilk neslin üyelerinden biriyim. Ortaokuldayken Atari, Commodore oyunlarını nasıl büyük bir coşkuyla oynadığımı şimdi bile hatırlarım. Kendimi gamer olarak tanımlayamam, yıllar ilerleyip iş ve aile hayatıma dair sorumluluklarım arttıkça çok daha az oyun oynar hale geldim. Yine de oyunun her türlüsüne meraklıyım. Steemit kurgulanırken pazarlama terminolojisinde gamification(oyunlaştırma) olarak isimlendirilen konseptten ciddi ölçüde faydalanılmış.

Bilgisayar oyunlarının genellikle puan kazanmak ve seviye atlamak gibi temel iki hedefi olur. Her ikisi de steemit’e uyarlanmış görünüyor. Profil isimlerinizin yanında parantez içinde yazan itibar puanı hem puan, hem de seviye gösteren bir parametre olarak ele alınabilir örneğin. 25 ile başlıyorsunuz ve zaman içinde bu puan yükseliyor. Diğer sosyal medya mecraları için de söz konusu olan takipçi sayınız da bir oyun öğesi olarak ele alınabilir.

Steemit’te steem gücünüze göre farklı deniz canlılarına benzetiliyorsunuz. Steem gücünüzün büyüklüğüne göre sırasıyla plankton, küçük balık, yunus, orka ve balina oluyorsunuz.

1. Hızlı Geri Bildirim Alıyorum

Bir öykü ya da makale yazıp herhangi bir dergiye göndermiş olanlar bilir, yazının yayınlanıp yayınlanmayacağı konusundaki geri bildirimi almak için günlerce beklemeniz gerekebilir. Elbette herhangi bir yanıt alacağınızın garantisi de yoktur. Bir kitap yayınlamak istiyorsanız gönderdiğiniz esere dair değerlendirme süresi 6 ayı bulabilir. Dergilere benzer biçimde yayınevleri de yazarlara cevap vermek konusunda çok titiz değildir, canları isterse yanıt verirler, çok azı anlamlı bir geri bildirimle birlikte yanıt verir.

Dijital ortamın doğası gereği işler burada çok daha hızlı ilerliyor. Herhangi bir yazıyı yayınladıktan birkaç saat sonra okuyanlardan olumlu ya da olumsuz geri bildirimleri almış oluyorum. Üstelik onlarla etkileşime girebiliyorum. 🙌

1. Ortam Çok Fazla Hesap Kitap Gerektiriyor

Steemit ortamının çok fazla hesap kitap gerektiriyor olması herkes için tercih sebebi olmayabilir. Dolayısıyla bu madde muhtemelen sadece benim gibi “sayısalcı”lar için geçerlidir. Steemit sözel paylaşımlar yapılan bir son kullanıcı ortamı için gereğinden fazla analitik yetkinlik gerektiriyor. Sistemi anlamak hiç kolay değil ve para kazanmak için binbir türlü hesap yapmanız gerekiyor. Burada sayısal yetkinliklerimi de kullanabiliyor olmak hoşuma gidiyor. Bu konuda topluluğa elimden geldiğinde yardımcı olmaya çalışıyorum. 👨‍🏫

1. Metin Editörü Üzerinde Oldukça Kapsamlı İşler Yapabiliyorum

Daha önce başka ortamlarda da blog yazıp yayınlama tecrübem olmuştu. Steemit’in editörü üzerinde neredeyse bir dergi yayınlıyormuşçasına kapsamlı düzenlemeler yapabiliyorum. Görsel kullanımı, gif kullanımı, tablo ekleme vb pek çok işlemle yazılarımı zenginleştirebiliyorum. Metin editörünün kullanımının pratik olduğunu söyleyemem. Görselleri ve metni istediğim forma getirebilmek için küçük kod parçaları eklemek zorunda kalıyorum. Kullandığımız editör zamanla umarım diğer metin editörlerinden alışık olduğumuz pratikliğe ulaşır. Çok uğraştırıyor olsa da bir tasarımcısı edasıyla editör üzerinde düzenlemeler yapmak hoşuma gidiyor. 🤔

1. Gelecekte Bu Mecranın Çok Daha Önemli Hale Geleceğine İnanıyorum

Steemit’te yazmak konusunda bu denli motive olabilmemde buranın geleceğine inanmam da önemli rol oynuyor. Şu anda belirli sayıda takipçim var ve belirli bir miktar para kazanıyorum. Steemit’in dünya genelindeki kullanıcını sayısı 1 milyona yakın. Yaptığım hesaplamalara göre Türkiye’de 5000 civarında Steemit kullanıcısı var. Steemit’i Türkiye’de yoğun olarak kullananların sayısı şimdilerde bini bile bulmuyordur tahminim. Güncel steemit istatistiklerine buradan ulaşabilirsiniz.

Önümüzdeki dönemde Steemit kullanıcı sayılasının hızla artacağını ve Steemit’in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram gibi büyük bir sosyal medya ağına dönüşeceğini düşünüyorum. Dünya genelinde Steemit’e her ay 80.000 civarında yeni kullanıcı katılıyor. Topluluğa yeni katılan her hesap yeni bir soluk, yeni bir bakış açısı getiriyor. Ekşisözlüğün steem tabanlı bir alternatifi olan hede.io projesi sayesinde ekşisözlükteki tecrübelerini buraya taşıyan arkadaşlar oluyor. Neresinden bakılırsa bakılsın umut verici bir durum var.😎

Yazı Steemit’in tanıtıcı reklamı gibi oldu, dengeli bir görüş sunmak adına biraz da Steemit’in problemlerinden söz edeyim. Steemit ile ilgili gördüğüm en önemli problem sistemin temelini oluşturan steem para birimlerinin fiyat oynaklığı. Bir ay içinde Steem ve/veya SBD fiyatı iki katına çıkabiliyor ya da yarıya inebiliyor, dolayısıyla elde ettiğiniz gelir için de aynı durum geçerli oluyor. Bir diğer problem ortamı hakkıyla kullanmak için çok fazla şey öğrenme zorunluluğu. Son kullanıcıdan bir platformu öğrenmek için bu kadar çok çaba sarf etmesini beklemek makul değil. Bir diğer problem parayı verenin düdüğü çalıyor olma durumu. Yüksek steem gücünüz sayesinde bol ödül dağıtıp popüler, botlara para bastırıp trend olabiliyorsunuz. Tabii bu değerlendirmeyi yaparken Steem’e parasal yatırım yapanların çok büyük bir finansal risk aldığını da göz önünde bulundurmak gerekiyor.

Kimimiz emeğiyle, kimimiz parasıyla, bazılarımız da her ikisiyle birden Steemit sistemine yatırım yapıyoruz. Bunların karşılığını ne ölçüde alabileceğimizi zaman gösterecek. Belki ulaşılacak menzil kadar yolculuğun kendisi de önemlidir. Kendi adıma bu yolculuktan keyif alıyorum.
