8. Steem Price Update

¯\___(ツ)____/¯ Follow me @penguinpablo for daily Steem statistics.

Thanks for sharing! Great work!

Well as long as there is no effective user retention and growth is only defined by increasing numbers of bots, the price will be backed by speculation and not by true value.

According to the here shown statistics, since four months the number of active users remains static now. At the same time the number of posts/comments is even decreasing.

The numbers just mirror what we experience as users on a daily basis. The true social interaction is happening on discord - outside the Steem blockchain...

I've got a friend who just joined here in steemit, he made his best post that I believe of quality but got only 1.07 of upvote, he was so discouraged and never made a post again. How are we going to encourage new users like him? Here's his post for you to see if it was of quality or not: https://steemit.com/adventure/@ergel-john/my-adventure-to-bagsit-river-2020f50019b71

Well according to his blog, your friend only did two posts and then left. It's hard to build a followership if you don't constantly engage with the community over a longer time. It took me 5 months to be actually seen and that was in 2016 with a smaller number of users :-) So it really requires patience and consistency.

But Steem lacks curation towards the smaller accounts in general. There are a couple of services that dedicate their time to identify and reward new content creators. But the large majority of rewards is distributed among those who've been here since the beginning and those who pay for their votes (bid bots). So if you're new and don't have the money, then you'd have limited chances to succeed in the short term.

Mostly I tell new users to start producing video content for @dlive and engage with their community on discord. From my personal point of view the user experience on DLive.io is much better than on steemit.com. There may be other nice apps, but that's my personal favourite on the Steem blockchain :-)

@surfermarly couldn't agree more! People expect that just because they write good content they will automatically get the recognition and payouts that they deserve. Thats not how it works on here - people forget its a social media platform so you have to get to know people and build your following.

You cant expect everyone to know who you are on the first day - or even the first week or month. Ive been on here 2 months and its been hard, but fun but im finally starting to get more followers and a few more upvotes.

For me I dont have money to invest in Steem so ill just slowly keep grinding away my account! :)

Well you hit the nail. This is actually not a money printing machine.

Also what you're supposed to receive in re-turn for your efforts is a re-ward, and the RE has a meaning here :-)

I got it Ma'm, patience and consistency are needed to succeed in this platform, along with good contents and engagement...Thank you for the advice, I will always remember that.

noting that this steemer may not have done any curation / commenting either, commenting may help to become known / make friends one can suppose

Hello I had less than that at the beginning but still here I continue and every day this community grows and new friends are made and there are many people who help us who are starting

how are discord participants rewarded for their contributions?

With meaningful conversations and new friendships I guess :-)

on steemit you may get rewarded will all the above plus actual monetizable steem (convertable any crypto and fiat). Suppose that steemit is like actual life - one has to endure, be patient, try, fail etc and maybe prevail (or not - just as in real life)

I think STEEMIT is the best now is the only thing he used

It looks like a lot of steem power got powered down with that price surge

great price movement for steem, Though it slides back. I am hopeful

We've seen steem surge before, so I'm not getting too excited. It's part of a general rise, but it's gone up more than most. Maybe the recent media coverage is helping. We need to see some updates to the platform before it can really take off. Hardfork 20 still looks to be a way off.

Hopefully we will soon see an announcement from the Steemit team that justifies this price surge. Otherwise, I think you are right and there's a good chance that the price will drop again. We'll see...

If there was a burst of buying ahead of an announcement, doesn't that indicate insider trading?

Insider trading or something has leaked.

True - stupidity or negligence is always a more likely explanation than deliberate wrongdoing.

Indeed - maybe it's media coverage or maybe it's just another pump.

Yes @steevc you're right...
Good comment

Good news @penguinpablo. The good news all over from YouTube censorship crisis, to facebook data mining, to steemit and Dtube appearing on Bloomberg article and so on is starting to have it's effect.

I wish steem can get out from under bitcoin influence. The steem blockchain is a unique blockchain and she needs to breathe.

I pray the upward trend continues and we get back to January prices or more.

wow its good for steemit user @sanjibking

It looks like bid-bot activity hasn't changed much despite operation clean trending
