The Exotic and Mystical Ciamis Cirahong Bridge
Cirahong Bridge is a railway bridge located on the border of Tasikmalaya Regency and Ciamis Regency, precisely in Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya. This bridge passes over the Citanduy River which is the border of the two districts. This bridge has BH number 1290 and is located east of Manonjaya Station, Operational Area 2 Bandung. This bridge uses a lot of steel construction and is quite tight. This 202 meter long bridge is a unique bridge, because it has 2 functions. The top of the bridge functions for railroad traffic, while the lower part of the bridge functions for vehicle traffic. However, passing vehicles must take turns in, because of the narrow bridge size. This bridge is an alternative route from Tasikmalaya to Ciamis via Manonjaya and vice versa. Cirahong Bridge is the only Dutch heritage bridge in Ciamis Regency.
This bridge began to be built in 1893 which is part of the construction of the southern railway line on the island of Java by the Dutch Government.
