10 Reasons Why You Should Use Steemit - 18 months on...

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I am currently celebrating 18 months on Steemit, and boy, has it been a roller coaster of a ride. At times I have become frustrated with the competition of the reward pool, and only recently have I accepted that Steemit is a conduit to feed my passion, not just the other way round.

My content may not be found by the right audience at times, and may not be of interest to some, BUT it doesn't always matter, because I have grown and developed as a result of being here.

In 18 months, I found a love of the arts and have used Steemit to experiment. From Tarot art, to writing, and to photography, I have blogged about anything and everything that has interested me. I even published a few books as my confidence soared, developed a couple of websites, and made a few quid as a result. From Steemit, and my new found businesses. My grammar has become better, and so has my writing abilities, mainly through trial and error.

As a result of writing every day about my passions, I started university, and am currently finishing my second part time year. It is an arts and humanities degree specialising in creative writing and philosophy.

I also used Steemit to help me grieve over the loss of my dog last year with the theme, 'Hamishinmemory'.  Writing about him, helped me to deal with it properly. Pet bereavement is a REAL thing. I also lost my step father, and became ill during this time with a long term illness, which is controlled by diet.

A lot has happened in 18 months, and I believe Steemit has been a good motivational source that has helped me achieve some goals, which I probably wouldn't have done without Steemit.

Today, I give you 10 reasons to use Steemit.

  1. Steemit pays in currency you can exchange for hard cash.
  2. You can campaign your projects.
  3. You can get feedback on your projects as there is a community.
  4. It is a good hobby if nothing else (can be VERY addictive)
  5. It is fun, and you learn things from others.
  6. It is rich in education, once you sift through the junk. It is the internet, that happens.
  7. You can win on competitions.
  8. There is a mute button. Say goodbye to trolls and mischief makers.
  9. It has great search engine optimisation.
  10. Finally, it is still relatively new, so you can be on the inside, watching it grow.

I'm sticking around in my slippers, watching the Steemit world go by, I hope you do too!
