Coursework & Dissertation on STEEMIT

A simple question... "What would happen if a Student was to publish their Coursework & Dissertation on STEEMIT..??"

A very good friend of mine who I met 5 years ago and is in his last year of University studying Information Technology was totally blown away by the concept of STEEMIT when I first mentioned it to him 3 months ago.

His reaction of the BLOCKCHAIN being used to power a SOCIAL MEDIA SITE with the ultimate goal to create a TRADE-ABLE CryptoCurrency was a reaction of simple pure genius.

His belief even then that STEEMIT had the power to be totally UNLIMITED was matched with mine from that moment.

We first met when he was introduced to me by another close friend after I mentioned I was looking for someone to help me with a Data Mining problem that he ultimately solved.

From that moment we have worked closely together on various programming and technological solutions and are always bouncing ideas of each other.

It is a great combination we have as it combines over 30 years of Investment and Technological experience with the cutting edge Technological and Adaption of the current generation.

Trust me it can be very frustrating sometimes as I am from the old school and he like most of his generation works at a million miles an hour.

It was the suggestion that he made earlier today that gave me a EUREKA MOMENT..!!

What would happen if a Student was to publish their Coursework & Dissertation on STEEMIT..??

....or better still, what would happen if 1000's of STUDENTS were to publish their Coursework & Dissertations on STEEMIT..??

I am going to leave this with you to think about for a while and to think what would happen to STEEMIT if "The BEST of the BEST Students" were to upload all their FRESH CONTENT onto STEEMIT and its VALUE measured by the BLOCKCHAIN..!!

This really is an EXCITING CONCEPT..!!

Thanks for reading.

Great post Stephen,

Here is another question: "What if teachers/professors uploaded their notes/lectures to the blockchain?"

SteemIt could revolutionize education around the world.

Steem on,
Mike

Thanks Mike. You know the more I think about it the more it blows my mind. The guy I mention in the post is in his last year at University. He is one clever cookie. He is seriously thinking about blogging his coursework on STEEMIT. Could you imagine if 1,000's and I mean 1,000's did the same. It would send STEEMIT into ORBIT...!! Thanks for the support. Stephen

I see publishing coursework and dissertation as similar to publishing science on Steemit. It's basically a great idea, the problem is working out the details.

Perhaps the best takeaway from your idea is the potential to integrate a student's work into the greater whole. Instead of being an exercise in creative solipsism, a student's education could be more collaborative when enhanced by input from interested parties on the blockchain with credit for contributions recorded on the Steemit open ledgers.

Furthermore, a student's dissertation could have a greater context because it was not developed in private to be forgotten in a dusty archive after graduation, but instead, become a living document on the blockchain with a growing list of interested parties ranging from individuals to businesses and governments with an interest in productive new ideas and useful research.

".....because it was not developed in private to be forgotten in a dusty archive after graduation, but instead, become a living document on the blockchain with a growing list of interested parties ranging from individuals to businesses and governments with an interest in productive new ideas and useful research."..!!

You nailed it in one. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Thanks for the comment. Following. Stephen.

...it would be checked for plagiarism by cheetah )

cheetah likely do a better job at it than the Professors :)

I'm doing this right now. I'm a history major with many essays on deck. Check out my posts @elumni. Follow me and I will follow you right back.

And obviously the possibility for the student to be paid for his work. Turning higher education from something that is out of reach for most to what could be a paid job?

I would look forward to reading some stuff if it is interesting enough

I am newer to all this stuff but that title caught my eye...... I cannot grasp the entire idea of that --- but I definitely know there is something to it --- for sure! Great idea and post. Really good, you are onto something there -- which leads to other similar ideas... why not ____ do it and for ___ use... and ____ company and _______ organization.

How about everyone's GOVERNMENT do it and everyone VOTE on policy by the blockchain. Now THAT might lead to some real freedom or liberty -- even though I am seeing clearly now the complete flaws with rulers above us all period.

Thanks for the comment. It really does open up STEEMIT to limitless opportunities. Stephen

This is a thing being worked on actually.
@imaxess is running some of his courses here and there are plans to expand it to an entire college.

That's awesome. Thanks for the feedback. Stephen

The blockchain has so many great uses. Capturing academic work and thought-leadership is just one, but a very valuable use-case.
