[Steemit Challenge S30/W1] | Potato Magic: Crispy Homemade Potato Chops for Iftar 🥔✨
Hello my dear Steemit friends! 🌟
I’m back with another exciting entry for the Steemit Challenge Season 30. After sharing my sweet Carrot Rasmalai, I wanted to balance things out with something savory and crunchy. In our home, Iftar isn't complete without a delicious potato snack, so today I’m sharing my favorite Potato Chops (also known as Potato Patties).
These are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with flavor. They are the ultimate "Potato Magic" that brings everyone to the table!
🥔 Potato Chops: The Recipe
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Ingredients:
Potatoes: 4 large (boiled and mashed)
Onion: 1 medium (finely chopped)
Green Chilies: 2-3 (finely chopped)
Fresh Coriander: A handful (chopped)
Spices: 1 tsp Red Chili flakes, ½ tsp Turmeric, 1 tsp Cumin powder, 1 tsp Chaat Masala, and Salt to taste.
Binding: 2 tbsp Cornflour or Breadcrumbs.
Coating: 1 Egg (beaten) and Breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
Oil: For shallow frying.
Instructions:
Step 1: The Potato Base
In a large bowl, take your boiled and mashed potatoes. Add the chopped onions, green chilies, and fresh coriander. Mix in all the dry spices (salt, chili flakes, cumin, etc.).
Step 2: Binding
Add cornflour or breadcrumbs to the mixture. This helps the potato chops hold their shape and stay firm while frying. Mix everything well with your hands until it’s like a soft dough.
Step 3: Shaping the Magic
Grease your palms with a little oil. Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball, then flatten it gently into a round patty or "chop" shape. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
Step 4: The Crispy Coating
Dip each potato chop into the beaten egg first, and then roll it generously in breadcrumbs until it’s fully covered. This is the secret to that golden, crispy layer!
Step 5: Frying
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the chops until they turn a beautiful golden brown on both sides. Drain them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!
Serve these hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup. They are best enjoyed right at Iftar time with your family!
I hope you give this "Potato Magic" a try! It’s a simple yet satisfying dish that never fails to please.
