Ladakh is among one of the most beautiful places in the world which makes it a popular tourist destination. In fact, it has always been the dream destination for all. It is an exotic destination where a high plateau, steep mountains and valleys abound.

Situated at an average altitude of over 3510 meters (app. 11,000 feet above sea level) in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh nestling in the Himalayas, is a place like no other.

Ladakh where “La” means mountain passes and “ Dakh “ means in many, literally means the land of many passes. These passes are natural passage to the snow capped mountains and the incredible peaks. During the medieval times, the passes on the land of Ladakh were the trade routes through which India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Bhutan were connected with the remaining countries of the world. Today these passes are of immense military significance since they are the routes through which the supply of military amenities takes place. Other than military substance these passes are of immense advantage to the tourism sector. It is through these passes that some of the most beautiful tourist sites are accessible.
