On my heart
There’s a thumbprint
Unique, as thumbprints are
I never let anyone close enough
To leave a mark
To make an impression
But on my heart
There’s a thumbprint
Unique, as thumbprints are
The whisper of his breath
The brush of his fingertips
The lilt of his voice
They left an indelible mark
On the fabric of my soul
On the threads of my heart
Perhaps it’s for the best
It keeps the memories of us alive
This indelible mark
