Steem Monsters Post-Nerf Analysis and current meta-game (Medusa + Mischievous Mermaid)

Anyway, I wanted to take a look at how the water splinter has been faring after the recent nerf (link here: https://steemit.com/steemmonsters/@steemmonsters/steem-monsters-ranked-play-season-2-updates). It states:
"Medusa - Reduce health, particularly at lower levels.
Mischievous Mermaid - Reduce health, particularly at lower levels."
What this means is that teams that have relied on just using medusa as a tank for extra damage should be completely gone, right? Yes. That is the case. But most water splinter users (Ruleset: Lost Legendaries Manacap: 16) are using:

• Peaceful Giant/Naga Warrior
• Crustacean King
• Water Elemental

Which surprisingly enough is a variation of one of my first decks going into the new season which was exactly the same except the Frost Giant replaced the Peaceful Giant in my variation.
