That's a very thoughtful way to earn referral income. :)) But I guess there is no way to do that unless they set you beneficiary as per their own will. Or I would suggest you to ask them to put you on Auto-Upvote. I hope they wouldn't refuse to do so assuming you guys are good friends!
Unfortunately... Would be a great incentive to actually on-board people.
Maybe @steempeak could add this to their interface?
