SteemShorts: Change of Rules - Anonymous Submissions, Jury
SteemShorts are short stories written collaboratively by three different authors and illustrated by an artist/photographer, on the @adsactly society account.
For each of the three parts of the stories, authors are submitting summaries of their proposals and one of them is chosen by the readers to write the complete part. Similarly, when the story has been completely written, illustrators are proposing pictures and one of them is chosen.
The process to choose the authors/illustrators was initially described in this post: SteemShorts: Collaborative Short Stories.
When we conceived SteemShorts, we thought that readers would select the proposals based only on the quality of the summaries. However, this is not what happened. For each of the three SteemShorts that has been written so far, the different chosen authors have been those that have the biggest number of friends that voted for them, regardless of the quality of their proposals.
So, we have come to the conclusion that the proposals should be anonymous and that the best one should be chosen by a jury that will see only the proposals and will not know which author/illustrator has made the proposal.
Secret proposals, selected by a jury
For each of the three parts of the story, authors will send 0.001 STEEM or SBD to the @steemshorts account and put their summaries in 100 to 200 words in the Memo, starting with the character '#', so that the memo is encrypted and is readable only by the @steemshorts account. Once the author has done that, they will indicate in a comment that they have made a proposal, and they will be told by myself @vcelier if their proposal is valid or not.
Three days after the request for one part of the story, the different valid proposals will be sent to the members of the jury that will decide which one is chosen, based only on the quality of the proposals.
A similar process will be used for the illustration: the URL of the proposed illustration will be put in the secret memo to @steemshorts and the jury will choose one of the illustration.
The jury will not know what author/illustrator has made the proposals, so that only the quality of the proposals will be taken into account.
We are confident that these new rules will increase the quality of the future SteemShorts.

We love the new rules idea. It will raise the quality of Steemshorts! Well thought through!
Second that. I found the steemshorts stories creative and each one unfolded in interesting ways, even if the selection was biased to towards those who have lots of friends. I also do like the change to anonymous, and support it...but who is the jury?

The new rule is what I would have suggested too in the quest for quality Submissions.
One thing I have though is in the forming of the first part{ maybe the continuations.
The first part is where the story starts and is where the typeof story to be fold would be determined. I would want to belive that many could chose to write on diff. topics and all would still be fitting to be worthy enteries.. I could choose for example to write on Crime, another person could write on business, love, adventure, and We all would have sent in quality entries by general standards. This way, I believethere wont be a Credible basis to compare apple with apple in the selection process. So, I have three suggestions which could of cause be both both discarded if not worthy
1.) Let there be precise genre for enteries for each edition of steemshorts so that reviewers would be able to av more healthy basis of comparison.
2.) Maintain a part of the of voting procedure by allowing the reviewers choose only the top quality posts for votes. This would go a long way in still maintaining the required decentralized nature the blockchain that we are in.
3.) My last point would be a combination of the two processes. i. e. a genre is given for an episode, reviewers choose the top (quality) entries; Maybe 3 or 7 , then voters determine the rest.
Thanks
We already announced that starting with SteemShort #4 there will be a theme for each SteemShort. So, that fulfills your 1)
I think that adding an additional voting part (2 & 3) would be too complicated, would still be subject to the same problems we have had so far and would lengthen the process.
Alright. Rojer that. 😊
New users without any friends in this platform would have never gotten approved for this, with this new rules they might be!
Keep doing a good job, i would love to write something and send it but i don't think my english is good enough for this
In theory this is a great idea, I was very upset when I applied to be part of a few short stories in the past but lost out due to the upvoting system. I hope this new system works out better than what has taken place in the past
All the best for future
Wow.This is a good improvement upon the existing method.
I look forward to being involved. I love to write! I'm a little busy now, but will keep in mind for the future. Carry On! lol
Yes! Finally! Swear i couldn't be happier about this. The old system sucked! I belong to a group where everyone practically begged to get upvotes, so that it isn't about how good the post is. Thank God you guys are finally changing that. Can't wait to blow your minds!
Perfect.
The rules of the old method put me off applying.
I hope to be able to take part to this very interesting project, both as a writer and a painter
That is a brilliant idea, I hope it can practically work.
