RE: Health Science #5; Ketogenic Diet And Its Potential Benefits

PSA: NOT BASHING ANYONE ON KETO! I honestly have a problem with the keto diet and here's why: diet=restriction and why be afraid of carbs? Carbs from fruits and veggies are nothing to be afraid of! All fruits and veggies provide micronutrients that your body needs. A lot of people on keto eat a ton of cheese and dairy, but don't eat enough fruits and veggies. To me that seems strange. A diet can also make people feel restricted, which could later cause them to binge. It needs o be a lifestyle to be maintainable, am I alone in my opinion? Anyone else agree?

Well, I'm not on the ketogenic diet, but I don't have any problems with it. I think most of the low-carb diet would make us felt restricted. I think some of the points which can be extracted from this is:

  • Controlling the proportion of macronutrients is essential no matter which diet you are choosing.
  • Fat is nothing to be afraid of.
  • Fruits and vegetables are crucial, but the thing is, we actually need to fibre from that food, not the glucose. People on the ketogenic diet do eat fruit, but they were selective. They eat berries, coconut, avocado and anything else which contain less sugar to ensure the ketogenic state is not disturbed.

In the end, it's all up to you. You can list out as many pros and cons as you can, but if you were not convinced, then stick to your current diet.
