this is a very well written article... loved it... made me remember a sword and shield which I saw at the Indian Museum, Kolkata... I could not believe my eyes how could someone carry that shield and sword on horseback and still fight....
@svkrulze Thank you for your kind words, yes they were probably elite soldiers training a lot to gain stamina, but I am sure that it was very hard to carry those heavy weapons.
They were not pampered since childhood like we modern folks are
