RE: Microwave Power Transmission: - How Far, So Far?
I find this article interesting and educating. Its a complete guide to all that is entailed in Microwave Power Transmission. I like the way you outlined your points and the fact that you gave the past-present-future on MPT makes it even more complete.
This technology is that which is with many potentials. I was thinking about what the effficiency would be before coming across this line.
All antennas can be applied for MPT system but the slotted waveguide antenna is best suited due to its over 95 % efficiency and good directivity to avoid power losses.
Does this line answer my question?
Also, whats the cost implication compared to conventional mode of transmission?
Best wishes!

Thank you for dropping by.No sir. Unlike short range transmission, the efficiency is like an average. The initial cost of MPT or Wpt in general is higher than the conventional mode of transmission but in the long run, MPT seems cost effective because it eliminates the need for substations, power lines, tower, poles and the likes.
That's true, they should cost less to maintain than the conventional substations.
I hope in time scientists can find a way past the limitations especially the health related ones.
Thanks for the reply.
