Steem Summit's Notice of Extension for Art Submissions
Greetings from Steem Summit organizers!
The deadline for Steem Summit art submissions should be yesterday at 9:00 PM. Today should be the announcement of winners to be showcased in Steem Summit Exhibit. But the number of submitted entries has been underwhelming for the panelists. An hour before the deadline, many Cebuano steemians have expressed their enthusiasm to submit an entry, but they haven't finished their work. As an evidence, please refer to the screenshot below which was taken from Cebu Chat Group in Messenger:
With this, it has been decided to extend the deadline for the submission of entries for Art Category.
New Deadline
With the consideration of printing and setting up the exhibit, the organizers have decided to move the deadline to:
April 6, 2018
To those who haven't finished their artwork yet, you can still finish them and submit an entry until April 6. That day would be the last extension of entry submissions to avoid last minute preparations on the side of the exhibit committee.
Submitted Entries
Submitted entries before the deadline will have more exposure as it has been decided to showcase them here. These are the submitted entries so far:
I choose to create a Mandala for Steem Summit's Call for Art. One huge reason for that is because it keeps me relaxed while creating those circles and patterns plus it is very easy to do, anyone can create it and it doesn't require any high art standards, just using patterns and shapes are good enough to produce a beautiful Mandala.
I have three sisters who are dancers although this is not the first piece for me to feature dancers, I have yet to paint one of three sisters. This piece went through many evolutions. Initially there was supposed to be only one dancer, then as I was scrolling through for references I saw two different reference poses that seemed to connect and feed of each other as if they were actually dancing. As I finished my first sketch with the dancing duo it felt a bit off. So I decided to depict three dancers just like my sisters. Painting dancers have a challenge to them you need to exude motion, find the point where the dancer just projects herself in a way that it also seems like she could move unto the next step in her dance. I wanted the dancers to not only be interpreted as three sisters but could also be seen as one dancer gracefully captured as she goes from one position into the other.
See you all on April 22, 2018 at ASPACE CEBU, Crossroads, Cebu City, Philippines!
Special thanks to @donkeypong, @kryptonia, and @maefe30 for their special contribution to the event's success!
