CineAtlas 60 | Week 2 — 3 Shots Story | [Dagbana, Jikwoyi]
Here I will be sharing with you three pictures of the roadside market in my street; Dagbana which is under Jikwoyi phase 2, Abuja. This is an everyday business area for buying and selling and motorcycle riders are usually found around the place.
The image seen above, shows the environment of the place; the market stalls with umbrellas, dusty road, buildings, and distant hills which are closer to the area. Like I said it is a kind of busy place where people are seen present buying something.
This shot of mine sets the location and atmosphere of a busy roadside market in Jikwoyi, which is located in a rural area. Also, the shot is to give my viewers the context about where my story is happening from and what my area looks like.
The picture above is my medium shot. In this shot, I focus my moves closer to the people and motorcycle riders. From the shot, you can clearly see motorcycle riders interacting and preparing to move. Also, I captured this moment to let you understand the kind of activities that are happening in the place which include daily movement, buying, using, and transportation.
The above image is my close-up - reveal detail/emotion. Here I focused on a specific moment: a man sitting and washing something near the water. I believe he was praying as he was about to break his fast. Nearby the man there is a kettle, a basket, and wooden boards which viewers can feel the human side of the environment. This highlights detail, emotion, and my personal moment within the shot.
Summary of the story shots
Today I have shared three shots that tell a simple story of daily life in a local environment, a roadside market. My story begins with a wide view of the environment where traders, dusty roads, and stalk lines.
The scene of the next image then focuses on Okada riders who provide transportation and keep the area more active. The story ends with a quiet close-up moment of an elderly man resting and taking good care of himself which shows the human side of the busy marketplace.
