Why you need food

Most persons think they just need to eat to stay alive. But there is a double side to the coin, we need food for more than just to stay alive. Knowing the right quantity and proportion is also necessary.

When you are growing, you may find that you are more hungry, or are hungry more often. This is perfectly normal, as long as you need the extra calories to grow and become an adult.

Overeating and not exercising can lead to unhealthy weight and body conditions. Obesity is defined

as having 20% more than the "ideal" body weight for someone your age and height.

If you think that you may be overweight or obese, talk to your parents or doctor about ways to become healthier. If you want to eat healthy, it is important to make healthy choices in what you eat all the time – meaning: meals and snacks.

For example: foods with refined grains, such as white flour or refined wheat, have high amounts of starch that the body just stores away and doesn't use. Try to eat more whole grains such as whole wheat (bread, etc.), brown rice, and oats – which provide energy over a longer period of time after you eat them.

Eating the right way to remain healthy

Eating a Balanced diet

Its not much of a big deal to eat a balance diet but most of us do not. it is not as complicated as we make it seem. You just need a little bit of reminder a the back of your mind of combining the right classes of food in your meal. Just choose a variety of foods from all the major food groups including fruits and vegetables, meats or protein sources, dairy or calcium, grains and cereals, and healthy oils and fats. With this you are okay.

No need for supplements

If you eat good and healthy food your chances of requiring supplements are low. Eating a healthful, balanced diet will provide you will all the essential vitamins and minerals you need every day.

Reduces your risk of cancer, keeps you fit and your heart healthy.

There is always a misconception that all thin people are healthy while all fat people are unhealthy but this is not right.
Not everybody who is thin is healthy, and not everyone who is overweight is unhealthy, but eating right can improve health for even thin people who are junk food junkies. You can think of junk food as anything that’s high in calories and low in micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. This includes potato chips, greasy foods like french fries, and soda.
Having a history of poor eating habits and being obese are two major risk factors for type 2 diabetes Eating a poor diet, drinking too much alcohol, gaining too much weight, and heavy consumption of red and processed meats are associated with a higher risk of some forms of cancer. And although it's difficult to say that any particular foods prevent cancer, eating a healthy diet overall may decrease your cancer risk.
