The idea is pretty interesting. Of course, this will require a lot of changes, but after all, why not? This will open the doors for so many novel options for many places (i.e. being air-connected to the entire world).
If that is implemented, I bet some areas not deemed fit for an airport will get to have one. The Henk guy should be funded to research more into it. Guys like the retired pilot should be on his team to offer both the pro and the cons of it. Thank you.
Yeah, we need objective studies trying to assess both sides (and those are very hard to get as soon as money lies around :p )
