When I think back to my childhood, it always feels like one interesting film playing on my mind. I can still see myself that time, as a small boy which do walk up and down, sometimes stubborn, sometimes playful. But one thing is clear. There are people who shape me. The way they live, the way they train me, is what makes me who I am today. Truly I can say now that anytime I just remember those my childhood days, it really sweet me very well and sometimes it pain me a little because I can see the sacrifice they make just to see me grow.
Who is the person (or people) that shaped your childhood the most? |

It is my parents. My father is not that kind strict man which do shout unnecessary. He is caring, he is lovely, and he do always put family first. He always make sure that there's food on the table, even if it mean that he will sacrifice his own comfort. He do always tell me, “Dont worry, better day will come.”
My mother too is the softness mum I have. She is patient, she listen, she always encourage me. If I fail exam, she will tell me, “Dont worry, you will try better again.” If I am shy, she will push me small, and said , “Go and talk, don't fear.” She always balance my father's caring nature with her own kindness. It's the two of them together mould me very well.
What is your earliest or most memorable memory with this person? |

However, I wont ever forget the day I snap pictures pictures with two of my best friends happily at the end of the school term session. Having in mind to have first position in class. After the end of the term party we left to our various classes to collect our results. As I received mine and checked the result I had I cried. I carried the report card from nusery school back to the house. I was afraid because I didn't pass as expected,I took third position.
I thought I'll be receiving beatings from my parents when I reach house. But no, instead My father look me straight, and didn't shout, he just ask me, “Are You sure that you try your best?” I couldn't talk I just nodded. My mother came and sit me down later, tell me a story of how she too do struggle for school before she improve. However , I can say that on that particular day I really learn that failure is not just the end as some people might think, instead it's just a lesson, which can do better next time.

Another memory was when my dad carried me to football field the day he his team had a final match to win, since he was a coach back then. He knows that I really like playing and watching ball, so he brought me to watch the match and after the match he left the players in the team to come and watch me playing with other kids. He will clap for me even if I don't score a goal. That day I surely learn that support is not always mean to be money, sometimes it's just the presence needed.
I also remember that time when my mother carry me to the market. She hold my hand very well so that I won't try to lost inside the crowd in the market. She will teach me how to greet elders very well, and how to say “thank you” when a person help me, and how to respect people even if they are not rich. Those small lessons from her later turn big values for my life today.
How did this person guide, support, or discipline you during childhood? |

My father guide me and my siblings with care. He is not a shouting type. If we misbehave, he will sit us down, talk to us like a friend and a caring father. He do always remind me that “truth can save a man.” He always show me example with action, not just words alone.
My mother guided us with support. She do always stand when we are weak. No doubt If I can't just have the boldness and courage to talk in front of people, she will surely encourage me to speak out. And sometimes If I am sad, she will do help me cheer up. She always remind me that “patience can carry a person more far.”
The two of them together is like two hands which hold me and my siblings—one strong, one gentle.
What values, habits, or lessons did you learn from them? |
|---|
However,From my father, I learn a lot which includes hard work and care. He always wake early, and he teach me that laziness can surely kill destiny. He also teach me honesty too. He always said to me, “My son if you are not truthful in your life, people won't trust you.”
And from my mother, I learn patience and kindness. She always show me that even small act of love can change a person day. She also teach me gratitude. She remind me to always say “thank you” even for small help.
Therefore, together, they gave me habits which is still with me today which some of the habits are:
Waking early
Respecting people
Saying the truth
Always be thankful
These lessons is not just by words, it's actions which I see every day.
How does their influence still reflect in your life today? |

Even now which I have grown, I still do hear their voice for everything I do. Anytime I wake early to chase my goals, it's my father's voice on my ear. Anytime I treat people with kindness and patience, it's my mother's presence I do feel.
I'm happy they are still alive. We are a happy family. And doing my best to reward them and make them happy. Their lessons has guide on my work, and my daily life. I can't separate who I am today from what they teach me. Their influence is like a seed which grow into a tree, and that tree is my life.
Whenever I face challenge, I surely remember how they face their own—with courage and faith. Whenever I succeed, I will remember their sacrifice and I'll be grateful.

Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
You have described the contribution of your parents in shaping your childhood. Special life experiences, such as the day of getting results, moments of playing games, and going to the market with your mother made the feelings of childhood come alive and showed a mindset of learning from failure.
Your writing clearly shows that teaching was done through empathy, conversation, and encouragement rather than strictness, which reflects a positive family environment. You explained well that hard work, honesty, patience, gratitude, and respect for others are connected to daily habits, which is truly admirable.
By explaining how these lessons appear in your present life, you have shown your parents’ influence as a lasting philosophy of life which is incredible.
