As children who lived and grew up in the countryside, we played many games that gave us valuable experiences. One game that we will never forget is marbles. It gave us an experience that is still very precious to us today. Of course, this is something that taught us lessons we will never forget and can still pass on to future generations.

How old were you, and what exactly happened in that moment?

At that time, I was around 9 years old, still attending an elementary school that was a little far from home, which meant I had to walk there. We played marbles on school holidays. We didn't just play this game in the village where we lived. I also played marbles in a neighboring village, which was not far from my aunt's house. At first, the marbles game was normal. Nothing happened that caused any problems. But the longer we played, the more problems arose. Especially since I came alone to the marbles playing location. Apparently, they did not accept their defeat in today's marbles game. And according to one of my cousins who had run out of marbles, they usually always won when playing marbles with anyone. Only today did they lose and refuse to accept it. It was already late afternoon, but they still wouldn’t accept their defeat, no matter what type of marbles game we played. Even the three of them managed to beat me, perhaps because they didn’t know that I was one of the hardest marbles players to beat at that time.

Finally, their parents intervened to end our game. We agreed that I would return to our playing spot another day, as they could not accept defeat. I was then allowed to go home. Of course, my mother was waiting for me to come home and had to attend evening religious classes. It's normal for parents to want their children to obey the rules. That is, to be home before dusk, at least by 5:00 p.m. I had spent the whole day playing with my friends. It was only natural that my parents were angry, especially since I came home late at night.

What emotions did you feel during and after the incident?

While the game was going on, I wanted to show them that I could do things they never thought I could do. I wanted to get angry and fight back, but there were three of them and they were near their house. There was no way I could win if I fought them, and their parents would definitely support them. After the incident, it turned out that their parents were wise in taking action. At least they did something so that I wouldn't feel burdened by what their child had done. Of course, when I returned, I faced my mother with a guilty conscience for obeying the rules that had been set, which would make me a disciplined person.

What lesson or realization did you learn from this experience?

From this experience, I learned that not all parents will support their children's behavior if it is inappropriate. Instead, they will do their best to ensure that their children's actions do not harm others. Making decisions without considering the consequences and thinking negatively are things that should be avoided.

How has this lesson influenced your life until today?

In every action I take, I must consider the consequences. I always think positively about what someone has done, before there is clarity about what they have done. I am always disciplined in all areas of life, so that time is not wasted, and of course I always advise my children to always be careful in their actions.

Thank you to all my Steemit friends who have stopped by my post. Greetings @muzack1.

Greetings,

Thank you so much for participating in the contest.

You have presented a beautiful childhood story. The memory of village games, especially the marbles game, brings a nostalgic feeling.

You clearly described the incident that happened when you were 9 years old. You explained the situation about winning and losing the game and how the parents later intervened.

Your patience at that moment and not getting involved in a fight is a very positive side. You also nicely explained how this experience taught you discipline, positive thinking, and to consider the consequences before making decisions.
