SC-S29/W6 – Nostalgia Of The Little Me: A Childhood Story That Taught You Something
Let's talk about childhood stories...
What is the childhood incident or story you want to share? |
|---|
Childhood stories are stories that does not easily erase from memory. Usually, when I was little, we sit out right inside the compound every night to listen to bed time stories as my dad or my mom or even my uncle shares theses stories.
Let me share an interesting story told to us by my uncle...
A young lady walked alone one afternoon and on her way, she met a a man who admired her beauty and told her that he wants to marry her, but the young lady asked, “do you know me”? So why do you want to marry someone you don't know?
This man did not respond but kept on telling her that he wants to marry her. The young lady kept walking until she disappeared from the man. After some days had pass, the lady met this same man again and this time, the man insisted that they get married immediately. But this lady kept on warning him about finding out who she was before getting married to her.
When the man was not making any effort in finding out who she was or where she came from, she agreed to marry this man. After the marriage, he took her home, but while on their way home, the lady stopped at a particular spot and told him to wait for her. She entered the bush and came out with some other ladies and told the man that they were her sisters and now that they are married, he has married all of them.
The man was surprised and asked her how that could be possible. The lady now told him that she came from the marine world and there, they all walk together so she cannot leave her sisters behind, he has to agree to it or they kill him.
The man kept mute and they carried him home to live together.
How old were you, and what exactly happened in that moment? |
|---|
I was 10 years old at that time and that moment was when we had finished eating at night and we all came outside, sat under the moon to listen to stories.
At that story moment, I was scared when my uncle said “a lady was just walking and a man saw her and began to admire her beauty!” I'd thought the man was going to kill her or maybe kidnap her since she was alone.
When he continued, I notice a change in mood and it became brighter but as it continued, I saw fear grip my siblings.
What emotions did you feel during and after the incident? |
|---|
I felt fear, pity and excitement at the same time. The starting of the story was excited when the young lady was walking alone and met a man who admired her beauty. It was so excited and sweet because all young lady loves it when they are being admired. I bagan to see myself as the young lady in the story who was being admired.
When the story pushed further, fear took hold of me. I got confused who the lady was and where the man was coming from and why he never wanted to make inquiries about the lady. When they finally got married and the lady entered the bush, I expected the unknown as fear tied me up.
Feeling pity for the man was when the lady said, “these are my sisters and as you have married me, you married them also”, this was the part I felt sorry for the man and blamed him for not asking questions.
What lesson or realization did you learn from this experience? |
|---|
I learnt that we should make serious enquires about someone, something, or even places before we do anything. Someone who wants to do a business with another person is supposed to aak questions about that person. He should dig well to get all needed informations about this person and the business they want to start.
Ignorance is the mother of frustration. That man became frustrated at the begining of the marriage because of ignorance. He refused to ask questions about the lady and assumed he could handle whatever comes out it. I learned that assumption cannot give a head way to any destination, instead certainty and clarity, helps you arrive safely.
How has this lesson influenced your life until today? |
|---|
I have lived my life with the full awareness of clarity, not assuming, and being satisfied with my findings before starting a project, business or journey.
I keep trying as much as I can to keep ignorance far away so I don't get frustrated in life. It has helped me make drastic and result-oriented decisions in life.

Hola, hola!! Nuestros abuelos, tíos y padres siempre tienen historias para contar, pero lo que vivió este hombre por culpa de la insistencia hizo que me diera cuenta que antes de una decisión debo buscar más información.
Gracias por la invitación.
Éxito.
Muchas Bendiciones.. 🙏🏻
