Wonderful Chera Dip

Chera Dip is a truly special place, known as the southernmost point of Bangladesh. Beyond its geographical importance, the island is famous for its breathtaking natural beauty, which attracts countless travelers every year.

Lonely beach area

The name Chera Dip comes from the fact that it is a separate island detached from Saint Martin’s Island. Visitors can reach Chera Dip by motorcycle, bicycle, boat, or speedboat. We chose to go by speedboat, which made the journey quick and exciting.

Beautiful sky

The round-trip fare was 500 BDT per person. The crystal-clear blue water, coral beds, and stunning views of the sea instantly caught our attention. One interesting fact is that there is no jetty on the island. Boats and speedboats cannot go very close because of the coral reefs.

This place was looking stunning. I sat there to enjoy the moment and take some pictures

To reach the shore, we had to walk through knee-deep seawater from the beach. We moved very carefully, as sharp corals can easily cut feet. We started our journey around 3:00 PM and reached the island by about 3:30 PM.

Enjoying beautiful sunset

We spent a long time walking around and exploring the island until sunset. The island is filled with coconut trees, and no one lives there permanently. Since Chhera Dwip is separated from Saint Martin’s Island, it submerges under water during high tide, which makes permanent settlement impossible.

There were countless coral stones.

It was an incredible view of the beach

There were some coconut seller on the beach

The island is mainly covered with coral stones, rocks, coconut gardens, and mangrove-like keora forests. Various birds can be seen here, and the area is rich in marine life. The transparent bluish water reveals beautiful coral formations beneath the surface. We enjoyed roaming around the island until evening.

Walking near these plants was an amazing experience

Sunset view

After sunset, we headed back toward Saint Martin’s Island. It usually takes 20–25 minutes to travel between Saint Martin’s and Chhera Dwip. In my opinion, the best time to explore Saint Martin’s and Chera Dip is in the afternoon, staying until sunset
